Glass artist Stephen Kitras is on a journey of the heart. Hang his hand-blown heart charm in a bright window and watch as sunlight passes through the stunningly crafted glass. Whether the bold red or clear variety with delicate swirls of azure blue, red, and gold, the effect is colorful and sentimental, just like the loving memories that set our own hearts aglow. Each charm also includes a shining, hopeful message: "This heart carries the intention of Memory. May this heart awaken memories that bring happiness, peace, and comfort and allow me to rest in the love they bring. A touchstone that inspires joy and an original work of art; no two are alike. Crafted in Canada.

“Why glass? Compared to other media I've worked in, such as iron and ceramic, glass is immediate and responds right away to any design decisions that I make.”

The mantra "when surrounded by beauty, the spirit is uplifted" embodies the mission of Kitras Art Glass. Stephen Kitras began work as a glassblower in 1988, and in 1994 he formed Kitras Art Glass with his wife, Elke. By 2001 the company had expanded to over 40 employees and a new facility. It is Stephen's goal is to design and produce affordable glass art objects to enhance the lives of others. "I think it’s good to make beautiful things and celebrate beautiful moments," he says. "They happen every day, all around us."
