“I started out from my garage. As the business grew, and my wife’s and neighbors' patience stretched, it was time to move to an industrial space. There I can bang and grind at all hours of the night. It's 1,000 square feet of pure metalworking nirvana.”
Chris Crooks took a winding road to get to where he is now—creating imaginative lawn sculptures inspired by the Southwest landscape he calls home. After graduating from the Art Institute of Philadelphia, Chris worked in advertising, then ran a printing business with his wife, while painting during his free time. It was when the couple moved to Tucson that Chris collaborated with a metal art manufacturer and fell in love with the art form. He now designs and creates sculptures in his studio at the foot of the Santa Rita Mountains. "I always wanted to make a living doing something genuinely enjoyable," he says. "To get up in the morning raring to go, and never having enough time to do everything you want to do."

Giraffes in the yard make my friend happy every day!
These giraffes exceed my expectations! My best friend loves giraffes so much he went to Nairobi to stay at the Giraffe Hotel. So I bought him a mama and calf for his newly renovated back yard. He found the perfect spot under a sapote (Mexican fruit) tree. Their oxidized surface is beautiful, and they are elegantly sculpted. Easy to put together, they stand sturdily in the yard. He might need to buy some more!

Charming gift for a giraffe lover
I fell in love with the picture when I saw it. My wife is a giraffe freak so it was a no-brainer. Ironically, when she told her sister she got a great gift, the sister asked if she got a giraffe (sarcastically) and my wife was thrilled to say yes! I don't have the issues that others have had with it bending or falling over in the wind, and it has survived 1 1/2 Chicago winters so far. And the perfect shadow cast on our fence was an added unexpected bonus!

Two dead giraffes --legs won't survive a few storms
We loved them--until we had a storm with gusting winds. Both blew over, bent at their legs--now they fall all the time and the legs are cracking. I want to find someone who can weld metal bars to the back of the legs so these can stand up to modest weather.

Amazing quality.
This is the perfect outdoor sculpture. Enhances any garden. Very realistic. East to put together and you can't see where the two pieces are joined. Truly an artist created this.

Very cool sculptures, but buyer beware
We purchased both sculptures and they are really cute. Unfortunately, when there's a wind--and it doesn't have to be a strong one--one or both sculptures bend at the legs and the sculptures fall flat on the ground. It's a shame because I'm sure at some point the metal will just break off completely at the feet. The stakes under the giraffe legs just aren't enough.

Made of 16 gauge crs steel, no special care is needed however, the patina will darken over time. You may want to spray the piece with exterior sealer to avoid rust stains if you think the salt and sea spray may rust them.
