“I started out from my garage. As the business grew, and my wife’s and neighbors' patience stretched, it was time to move to an industrial space. There I can bang and grind at all hours of the night. It's 1,000 square feet of pure metalworking nirvana.”
Chris Crooks took a winding road to get to where he is now—creating imaginative lawn sculptures inspired by the Southwest landscape he calls home. After graduating from the Art Institute of Philadelphia, Chris worked in advertising, then ran a printing business with his wife, while painting during his free time. It was when the couple moved to Tucson that Chris collaborated with a metal art manufacturer and fell in love with the art form. He now designs and creates sculptures in his studio at the foot of the Santa Rita Mountains. "I always wanted to make a living doing something genuinely enjoyable," he says. "To get up in the morning raring to go, and never having enough time to do everything you want to do."

Care
No special care needed however, patina will darken over time. If attaching to finished wood work, or masonry that is exposed to the weather, the piece should be sprayed with exterior sealer to avoid rust stains.

Adorable Halloween Bat!
I simply LOVE this adorable bat. He is the cutest! My husband has him hanging from our Maple tree in our front yard next to the driveway with a spot light focused on him. This bat is made of high quality metal that will last for years to come! Can't wait for the kids on the street to see him Halloween night. 😁

Batty for This Bat!

Better than expected!
This hanging bat decoration is better than expected. Very nicely constructed. I had expected it to be a bit smaller and when we opened the box (nicely shipped), we were so excited with the size. My wife was extremely happy with the gift. Thanks so much for having the talent to construct such a cool gift. I would recommend this to anyone.

How does it mount and do I needs mounting supplies? Can you hang it on a hook as it is?

You'll need weatherproof screws to mount this outside.

There is a recommendation to use a sealant depending on where this is hung and one reviewers commenting on shedding rust when this was placed outside. I plan to hang inside our apartment in the hallway. I believe this won't be an issue if I hand indoors on a typical apartment wall but please confirm.

If you were hanging this indoors in a dry place like Arizona, you'd be ok to not treat it. If you live in an area that has a decent amount of humidity (like New York or just about any state that's not Arizona or New Mexico) and you want to avoid rust, we'd advise you to treat it. Better safe than sorry. Many of our customers use a clear spray-on sealant such as Rust-oleum or Krylon.

Just wondering if the bat is shipped with its wings flat or curled like in the picture. I'd like to be able to hang it with the wings curled the opposite way... Thx!

Thanks for the question. The little guy ships as you see in the picture, though perhaps the lighting may be causing an optical illusion in our picture causing the bat to appear to have the wings flat. If you look closely, you will see that the bat's wings are actually curled, try using the zoom option to go over the wing and you'll be sure to see it curled.
