I would buy again!
Product exactly as described. Each of the lines represents a note, so when filled up to that line, that note is played! Would consider buying more so that you could have more notes to play songs!

Compose while you're drunk, and you'll feel like Mozart
I purchased a highly rated wine bottle to add to her gift and the aeration process to really pull the notes from the wine became seamless. From what I garner she has already used them multiple times when her girlfriends come over for their girls nights.

Huge hit for 14 year old
Each glass holds 3 cups of liquid when full. So the lower notes are what get played most often when at the dinner table.

Fun item for the wine connoisseur
This wine glass is large, which is great because as you drink down your wine, you can hit different notes to play with! I'd say this gift is for someone who can be a bit goofy, because you need your finger completely wet in order for the "music" to happen. It's a bit unnatural to play with at first, but once you get the hang of it, it's really fun. Partner loved this gift.

are the note lines and markings on both sides or only on one side.

Great question! The Musical Wine Glasses are printed on one side only.

Can other notes besides A major notes be played by adjusting the amount of liquid? I need an F, G, and Eflat.
Verified reply from Allison
You sound like you know your scales! Although those notes are not listed on the glass you may be able to make it work! Check out our blog post! http://blog.uncommongoods.com/2013/gift-lab-major-scale-musical-wine-glasses

why would anyone want only two glasses?
Verified reply from Alexis R
Hey, we don't know how well someones musical skills are when it comes to wine glass jamming. What we do know is 2 is better than 1. And if they do feel like putting on an all out wine glass concert for their guest they're always welcomed to order more!
Reply from Unsung Heroine
I would like only one, but would be happy to buy two, because one of mine broke and so therefore I cannot play the songs that require that note. How do I order the glass I want to be included in the two that I must buy if I am going to get two glasses? Or, Can I, in fact, get a replacement glass?

I was hurrying to find a gift for my Dad for his birthday and ordered these wine glasses without realizing the regular set only has 2 glasses. Since he can't play a song on 2 glasses, what can he do? Seems pretty useless with only 2. I will probably just have to return them and find him something else locally since his bday is in 2 days.

You can make music with as many or as few glasses as you'd like. Each glass can play any note (but only one note at a time) depending on how much wine you fill it up with. Check out this blog post for more info: http://blog.uncommongoods.com/2013/gift-lab-major-scale-musical-wine-glasses/ If you have any additional questions, or if you would like to return or exchange the glasses, there's no time limit on returns. Just contact us at help@uncomongoods.com or by phone at 888-365-0056, and we'll send you a pre-paid shipping label to return the set at no cost to you!

Can you purchase just one glass of you don't necessarily need two of them?
Verified reply from Nichole
No, we can't break up the sets of two. It's never a bad thing to have more vessels to drink wine though, right?

So the wine glasses don't play a complete song...just individual notes based on level of wine in glass??
Verified reply from Marisa
Yes. The sound is produced naturally by the vibration of the glass, and the particular note that is played depends on the level of the water. So there's no way a glass could produce more than one note at a time.

How many wine glasses do you need to play one song?

HOW DO THESE GLASSES WORK, DO THEY USE BLUE TOOTH?
Verified reply from Marisa
We have a feeling you're pulling our tooth.. or our leg. But no, no Bluetooth is involved. No electronics at all, in fact. Just fill our goblet to the desired note, and run your moistened finger around the rim of the glass. Soon, like a bow on the strings of a violin, your finger will cause the glass to vibrate, and a crystal-clear note will sound.

After viewing the video, it looks like the notes only play when the wine is at a specific note. So how do you play a full song without constantly refilling or drinking the wine?
Verified reply from Marisa
You are correct. To play a full song, you either need the Party Set (http://www.uncommongoods.com/product/major-scale-musical-wine-glasses-party-set) or you do what we did and videotape yourself playing each of the notes and edit them together to make a song (http://blog.uncommongoods.com/2013/gift-lab-major-scale-musical-wine-glasses/). It's certainly not the most efficient way to make music, but it just might be the most fun -- until the next morning, that is.
