“I started out from my garage. As the business grew, and my wife’s and neighbors' patience stretched, it was time to move to an industrial space. There I can bang and grind at all hours of the night. It's 1,000 square feet of pure metalworking nirvana.”
Chris Crooks took a winding road to get to where he is now—creating imaginative lawn sculptures inspired by the Southwest landscape he calls home. After graduating from the Art Institute of Philadelphia, Chris worked in advertising, then ran a printing business with his wife, while painting during his free time. It was when the couple moved to Tucson that Chris collaborated with a metal art manufacturer and fell in love with the art form. He now designs and creates sculptures in his studio at the foot of the Santa Rita Mountains. "I always wanted to make a living doing something genuinely enjoyable," he says. "To get up in the morning raring to go, and never having enough time to do everything you want to do."

We were given a house sign for Christmas and would like to have another one made. The first one has our last name, Arredondo. We'd like a second one with the coordinates for a town in Spain - Arredondo, Spain. However, that exceeds the 12 letter limit. Do you have any suggestions? Have you ever made a sign with 4 lines?

Hello. I love this idea. Would there any way to get a name plate with 16 characters? If that were a possibility, I would be interested in a name plate + the coordinate plate. Well, I think i am going to get the coodinates anyway but thought it would look nicer with a seperate name plate if available. Thank-you!

Unfortunately the artist isn't able to grant your request of putting 16 characters. The limit is 12 due to the size of the sign 12 characters is all that will be able to fit.

I've read that it's built for the outside elements (sun/wind/sand) , but how will it hold up outside a beachfront home in Eluethera,The Bahamas? Thanks.

This sign is made of steel. Superman may be able to bend steel, but hurricanes still can't. Note that the oxidized steel will gradually rust further over time. You can purchase a sealant from a hardware store to preserve the fresh look of the sign, or you can leave it exposed so it develops a stronger patina with age.

This sign is made of richly patinated oxidized steel - in other words, it's carefully, artistically, pre-rusted. It's meant to be outside, exposed to the elements.
