Wanted to Love
I saw this in the catalogue and fell totally in love, but…. We have a garden full of hummingbirds year round living in Sunny California. I was so excited when I received my order and thought "this is perfect" until after setting it up I noticed that there was extreme difficulty keeping the red feeder tubes on! They're flimsy and don't even come close to fitting snugly in the holes of glass bottles. Several times I found the actual Red tubes scattered around the deck. Apparently either they fell off when the hummingbirds tried to feed or they simply were blown off by a little bit of wind. For the price I would expect these should have been constructed better and tried before selling to the public. So disappointed!

This Painted Blossoms Hummingbird Feeder would be ideal in my mother's garden. #sweepstakes My sister uses this on her patio in the 11th floor and frequently, she sees 2-3 hummingbirds sitting in the perches even in the winter in Portland. I just started to use it a couple of weeks agi this winter but the birds don't yet to gather here. We have seen hummingbirds in our yard so will wait until they come around for the honeysuckle to put out the feeder. I did notice that the liquid was still clean with no bugs and had no funny smell. I think the glass design with the little feeder tubes helps to keep it clean and the entire thing is easy to clean.

This Feeder Brings All The Birds To The Yard
My mom's backyard is now THE place for hummingbirds in her neighborhood. Over the years, she had put up other feeders with mixed results. However, after she set this up in her lemon tree, she quickly gained a steady commute of fine feathered friends buzzing around the leaves for meals. Once comfortable, the birds even engaged with the other feeders and pollinated the flowers throughout the backyard.

Great question! Cleaning is pretty easy, you can remove the blue containers and take the flowers out. Then, just hand wash with mild soap and water and replace!

Is there a bee guard or some way to keep them out?

This does not come with a bee guard, however the long glass tube makes it difficult for insects to get in, while hummingbirds' long tongues can easily reach the nectar. Additionally, wasps and bees are attracted to the color yellow but do not find red appealing, so the gorgeous red hue of the flowers acts as a natural deterrent.
