What Makes This Birthstone Hand Blown Hummingbird Feeder Uncommon

Your hummingbirds' backyard buffet becomes rather brilliant when you put out one of Scott Staats' hand-blown glass feeders. Each one is shaped and swirled to echo the radiant hues of a birthstone, from January’s deep garnet to December’s dreamy turquoise. The stems curve like garden tendrils, adding a graceful flourish in matching hues—and, yes, those colors aren’t just for us. Hummingbirds can actually see a wider spectrum than humans, including UV and nonspectral light, so these vibrant vessels are a visual treat for birds and birdwatchers alike. Hang it from a branch and let the birthday buzz begin.

  • Both stem and body are colored to match a birthstone for a striking, cohesive look.
  • Built-in hanging loop makes setup easy—just add nectar and admire.
  • Choose your month and corresponding gem-inspired color:
    • January: garnet
    • February: amethyst
    • March: aquamarine
    • April: diamond
    • May: emerald
    • June: moonstone
    • July: ruby
    • August: peridot
    • September: sapphire
    • October: tourmaline
    • November: citrine
    • December: turquoise
  • Hand-blown in New Jersey.

After a detour managing a car-rental office, Scott rediscovered his passion for glasswork. Scott says his work "brings joy by creating beauty, invoking thoughts and memories, blending colors, and capturing the imagination." In 2022, he fulfilled his dream of owning a studio, where his wife and two young daughters often visit to cheer him on.
