Each one is shaped and swirled to echo the radiant hues of a birthstone, from January’s deep garnet to December’s dreamy turquoise. The stems curve like garden tendrils, adding a graceful flourish in matching hues—and, yes, those colors aren’t just for us. Hummingbirds can actually see a wider spectrum than humans, including UV and nonspectral light, so these vibrant vessels are a visual treat for birds and birdwatchers alike. Scott Saats was born in Princeton, New Jersey. Although he worked as a helper at a glass studio in high school, he decided to focus on business in college. After a detour managing a car-rental office, Scott rediscovered his passion for glasswork. Scott says his work "brings joy by creating beauty, invoking thoughts and memories, blending colors, and capturing the imagination." In 2022, he fulfilled his dream of owning a studio, where his wife and two young daughters often visit to cheer him on.
