Shelly Klein lives and works in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where she graduated from Kendall College of Art and Design. She earned a BFA with an emphasis in painting, and has since divided her time between painting and designing for her product line. The two disciplines often overlap: Shelly’s painted illustrations are used to decorate her product designs. Working with Uncommon Goods has helped Shelly produce pieces beyond the manufacturing capabilities of her own studio—and it allows her to connect with a large audience of art lovers from around the world.

Personalized Family Gift
Love the personalization options! This was hit for a couple (and their dogs) who are usually hard to shop for. The only issues was that one coaster came with the name and personalization scaled down to a smaller size than the others, and the wood color was not consistent at all from one coaster to another.

I love my coasters but are they to actually use? It seems like it's bare wood, I'm afraid of water rings if used. Should I put lacquer on them to protect the painting?

Yes, they are actually to use! The coasters are fully treated and will not be negatively affected by water.
