Pottery is a second life chapter for Maggy Ames. At Skidmore College, she watched enviously as classmates immersed themselves in clay. She completed law school, and practiced in New York City for 35 years, representing people with developmental disabilities. Maggy kept a pottery studio on the side, her haven of peace and quiet, and eventually became a full-time potter. She and her partners operate one of the few remaining working clay studios in Manhattan.

Beautiful bowl set
These bowls are gorgeous. I bought them as a wedding shower gift, and they were a big hit. Only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because large bowl was broken twice upon shipping. Customer service was great and quickly shipped new one each time, but wondering how they will stand up in the long run (supposed to be oven and dishwasher safe).

Beautiful and wonderfully made
I sent this to my daughter as a Christmas gift. She recently moved into a new place 1,000 miles away and is setting up her new home with her boyfriend. This was on her wish list and now it's on mine too! She loves it and has used it several times to mix ingredients, as well as to hold dips and sauces.

Beautiful, but easily broken
I purchased these for our family for Christmas. They are beautiful. It's now 2 weeks in and one is broken. The way they nest, with the handle design, means a slip in putting them away breaks a bowl. We won't be replacing as we see this as something that would continue to be a problem. Will probably use the remaining bowls as decoration and buy different mixing bowls.

Can you order just one of the sizes? All three of mine broke, but I've glued the 2 smaller ones back together. But not sure if the largest one can be saved! :-(

How heavy are the bowls individually?

The large bowl weighs about 4 to 4.5 pounds, and the smaller bowl weights about 3.5 to 4 pounds. The weights vary a little bit because each of these bowls is handmade, and therefore, unique.

They are really both. Blue predominates on the outside (though there is plenty of green), and green predominates on the inside.

Thanks for your question. The photos show the bowls in different lights. The first one shows them in the brightest light, so the real colors are showing. And they never fade! They're made of glaze, not paint.

Are these bowls small ? I was thinking of using them for mixing bowls, but the measurements tells me they are too small for that.

Thanks for your question. The larger two are big enough for mixing, depending on exactly what and how you're mixing. We suggest that you use our "View Life Size Image" tool, just below and to the left of the main product image. Click on that, and you'll be instructed to hold a common object to the screen to adjust it and make the image of the bowls exactly how large they are in real life.
