Philippines-based artist Loly Gomez left rice farming behind in 1972 to open a shop, selling pieces made from recycled glass. When her work caught the eye of Chicago designer and entrepreneur Carmi Plaut, an international partnership was born. The pair have been designing together for more than 25 years, with Loly also in charge of manufacturing in the Philippines and Carmi handling marketing from Chicago. "The collaboration is so natural and so wonderful," says Loly. "Like family."

Not What I Had Hoped

The stained glass is very pretty. The material around it did not look great in person. It looked cheap.

PERFECT FOR THE RIGHT PERSON/PEOPLE

I ACTUALLY ORDERED THIS ITEM FOR MY DEAR FRIENDS WHO LIVE ABOUT AN HOUR AWAY FROM ME AND I WOULD ALWAYS TELL THEM THAT I WISH THEY LIVED NEXT DOOR - THEN I SAW THIS - WAS PERFECT - AND BOUGHT IT FOR THEM FOR CHRISTMAS AND THEY ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT - SENT ME A PICTURE OF WHERE THEY PUT IT IN THEIR HOUSE.
