Philippines-based artist Loly Gomez left rice farming behind in 1972 to open a shop, selling pieces made from recycled glass. When her work caught the eye of Chicago designer and entrepreneur Carmi Plaut, an international partnership was born. The pair have been designing together for more than 25 years, with Loly also in charge of manufacturing in the Philippines and Carmi handling marketing from Chicago. "The collaboration is so natural and so wonderful," says Loly. "Like family."

    Made of plastic

    It's pretty and likely handmade, but be warned that the material is plastic and wires, not recycled glass as advertised. I tested on the flower petals and hummingbird wing - not cool to touch like glass would
