Philippines-based artist Loly Gomez left rice farming behind in 1972 to open a shop, selling pieces made from recycled glass. When her work caught the eye of Chicago designer and entrepreneur Carmi Plaut, an international partnership was born. The pair have been designing together for more than 25 years, with Loly also in charge of manufacturing in the Philippines and Carmi handling marketing from Chicago. "The collaboration is so natural and so wonderful," says Loly. "Like family."

Valentine's Day Gift for My Wife

Petite and pretty
Gifted this to my MIL for Christmas to sit behind the kitchen sink, which faces a large bay window. A perfect spot to glimmer in the light.

A bit underwhelming for the price point.
While I appreciate handmade items, I was expecting a bit more for the price point. My wife likes it and wants a few more the complete the aesthetics on her shelf. I suppose that's all the matters.

As pictured, but somehow disappointing
I can't say that anything about the description or the pictures is deceptive but it's much less cute in person. Truthfully, it looks a bit cheap, which it wasn't. I got it for my mom for Mother's Day but I don't really want to give it to her now.

Exactly as pictured
Open the box outside or over a garbage can cause several tiny glass beads came out of the box. Nothing with sharp edges, but just annoying. Not sure if the tiny glass beads fell off from the item, but overall the item is as shown in the picture. It is nice that you can adjust each leaf and flower to your liking. Would love if a bigger option was available to really see the light shining through the different glass colors.

Such a lovely little garden!
Although it was smaller than I expected, this is a treasure for any table, nook, desk, etc. I especially enjoy the bee, butterfly and ladybug, as they add character to the piece.
