What Makes It Uncommon

Live and Let Dry

You're done with the dishes, your cloth is soaked, and you have a few plastic baggies rinsed and ready to drip. (Why waste when you can reuse?) Instead of trying to prop your dishcloth and those little bags on spoon handles, hang 'em on this charming drying rack. It includes four aluminum spokes—each topped with a found stone—to keep your dryables in place. The spokes easily turn, to make room for whatever they're holding. They also come out, making storage simple, but the stones and salvaged granite base look so lovely you'll want to keep it on your counter all the time. Handmade by Arra David and Anne Johnson and their talented team in Windham, New Hampshire, the Granite State.

Due to the recycled and handmade nature of this item, each found beach stone is unique and granite color will vary.

We took a road trip to visit Anne and Arra in New Hampshire, where they welcomed us with hard cider and put us straight to work. See the whole story on our blog.

Inspiration ambushes me anytime, anywhere, and I welcome it.

During lifetimes spent around New England's forests and seacoast, Arra David and Anne Johnson have become masters of bringing the outdoors in. Stone, sun, wind, rain, and waves provide their raw materials. Arra and Anne transform them into well-designed, innovative works of handmade art with the help of a group of dedicated artisans they lovingly call "rockers." "We work together as a closely knit family," says Arra. "We all put our hearts, brains, muscles, and fingertips into everything we build." They use ethically forested wood, and replace each stone gathered from the water with a quarry rock that will eventually become another worn beauty.

Looks good as decorative piece as well as it is functional

Like the style and natural look. Maybe just the three I purchased but the metal pieces with the rocks to hang items don't stay in place. Any suggestions regarding how to make metal & rock arms stay in place? Or sometimes it's helpful that rocks and metal tubes move to make more adaptable to dry variety of items

So usefull

I love this little rack - I use it mainly for drying cutting boards and pan lids I handwash, but also plastic bags sometimes. My kitchen is very modern, and I think it looks perfect in there.

Excellent, solid quality- would definitely buy again!

The drying rack was exactly what I expected and is an excellent addition to our kitchen. Aesthetically pleasing and highly functional it can also be put away quickly and easily if not in use. Though I enjoy the look of it empty as well.

Sturdy...Stylish...Sustainable

What a great drying rack...we use it for the water bottles, bags and even rags. It is a work of art that is well designed and functional. It looks beautiful and is very well made. So many visitors have asked about it.

Keep your rag out of my clean sink!

Not only keeps the rag out and air dries, but easy to clean and holds heavy insulated containers for drying. Looks nice and solid construction.

Unusually unique and useful gift

This person I bought for has everything- and lives in a tiny apartment in NYC. This was great bc they do not have anything like it and said it is easy to fold up and put away when not being used

Aesthetically pleasing and functional

I've been tempted to buy other bag drying racks but held off because I didn't want anything else to clutter my kitchen counter. But when I saw this I changed my mind. When not holding a bag or two it looks like an interesting piece of art. Not only is it functional but it's also a conversation starter!

Beautiful but doesn't work for intended use

I bought this for drying plastic bags and beeswax wraps, but it doesn't work for such use. The rods are made to be adjustable so they are not fixed in any position. This means they fall together in one "pile" if you add weight or try to straddle 2 of the rods with a plastic bag. One rod won't hold a bag open; rather, the bag closes itself beneath the stone. The rack would probably work great if used for drying water bottles or anything with a hard side that would help separate the rods. Note... the sponge holder made by the same company has rods that are fixed in place and it work beautifully.

Response from merchant

Hi! We are so sorry to hear that happened. We’re glad you were able to use our Forever Returns policy.

The Green Queen

Years ago I bought a similar drying rack for my mother in law when I discovered she was washing and drying her plastic bags. When she passed away I debated taking her drying rack for myself. It was made out of bamboo and had seen many years of wear. When I saw this drying rack it had all the upgrades hers didn't, sturdiness, aesthetically pleasing and made with recycled parts.

Useful and Decorative

I hate wasting plastic baggies. But I also hate the way my kitchen looks with rinsed out baggies hanging all over the place. The arms swivel so you can arrange them to suit your purpose.

How big are the stones on the top of each drying peg diameter-wise (approximately)? Trying to figure out what size opening of a bottle would fit on each peg.

Verified reply from Amy

Hi there! Every single stone the artist uses for this is different, so we cannot definitively state any measurements. However, if we were to take a guess based on the third photo in the description, considering the base is 4x4, every stone seems to be under 2" in length. The roundness of them varies, so we couldn't say what size opening would fit over them, but most glasses/bottles would.
