yes I would recommend this product
Products used to keep husbands drink cold. It keeps the drinks cool and the actual taste does not change, as it would if it was filled with ice. I would have to ask him what he finds not great. I maybe should have purchased more. We were high school sweet hearts and celebrating our 41 year Anniversary. The gift for 41 years is land. So I purchased since description states: it come from actual rocks!--with these granite discs gathered from New England beaches. Which is considered as land! The gift was received later than expected 3 days. Good thing I had purchased a watch for time as another gift for 41 year anniversary. Also we received in good timing.

Does not work at all. Stones did not cool the drink at all.
Seemed like a great concept and a cool gift but turned out quite useless as it did not do the job of cooling the drink at all. I am very surprised at the number of positive reviews of this item.

Do not work at all
I received these as a gift from my wife. These stones do not chill a drink at all. Put one or two in room temp liquid and in 5 mins or more you will still have room temp liquid. They outright suck. I am surprised at the number of positive reviews on these.

Fantastic Gift!
Easy to find in the freezer. Saves space not having bags of ice.

Might the stones pick up the "fridge or freezer" taste? Other whiskey stone products mention it comes with a pouch or container to use when placing in freezer to avoid this. Should they be put in something?
Verified reply from Valerie
This product won't absorb odors or flavors. The stones come in a convenient hardwood tray for easy freezing and serving.

Your web page has conflicting information. In the heading they're described as "granite discs gathered from New England Beaches", and the detailed info (appears to be the product label) says "handmade in New Hampshire", yet your description also says the materials are stone, glass, and wood, and "Made in Louisiana of 50% recycled glass". These would appear to be stones that have been shaped and polished - where does the glass come in?
Verified reply from Valerie
The On the Rocks Set comes with two glass tumblers. The tumblers are made in Louisiana of 50% recycled glass. The stones are collected on New England beaches. The product is assembled in New Hampshire.

Can I purchase the rocks separately?
Verified reply from Marisa
While we don't offer these granite drink-chilling discs separately from the set, our Whiskey Stones Double size drink chillers might serve your needs: http://www.uncommongoods.com/product/whiskey-stones-double. Thanks for shopping with UncommonGoods!

Are the rocks safe to use to keep hot drinks hot as well as keeping cold drinks cold?
Verified reply from Marisa, Assistant community moderator
What a great idea! However, we don't advise trying it. They are intended to chill drinks, and have not been tested (including for safety) with hot drinks.
Wouldn't a rock in your glass have the chance of chipping a tooth?
Verified reply from Marisa, Assistant community moderator
Good question, thanks! We have never heard from a customer that they chipped or even knocked a tooth with these drink-chilling rocks. Looking over our 115 customer reviews, I see only one which brings up the issue, and two with relevant comments. On 3/4/2011, "Elle the Assistant" from LA said, "probably not wise to give someone who is a heavy 'drinks-to-get-drunk' drinker... Unlike ice, these rocks could chip your teeth if not cautious!" On 8/11/2010, "Jack and Coke" said, "Adding more than 1 required at least one to be raised on its side which would inevitably lead to a tooth numbing slam as they would slide at you when the glass was low." And finally, back on 6/7/2010, "Irina" said, "They are quite heavy and sink very quickly." That might explain why people aren't getting their teeth knocked - the stones are staying where they are, in the bottom of your glass.
Reply from Amealia
They are quite heavy and do not move as much as one would think.
Reply from MyTherapy
Unless you plan on downing your drink it shouldn't. Since the person I gave the gift to is a tried and true Scotch drinker, he had no problems using them.
Reply from Orchard Valley Lodger
When we use them we use shorter glasses, so you are more apt to sip the whiskey then swig it. That way the stones stay put on the bottom of the glass.

Can engrave the name on the rock ? How much the delivery cost ?
Verified reply from Marisa, Assistant community moderator
That is a great idea, and we are going to propose it! However, we do not engrave them currently. And sadly, we can't deliver to Malaysia, either - the only country we are currently able to deliver to other than the U.S. is Canada.

does it keep drinks cold?
Verified reply from Peter
If the stones are chilled beforehand as instructed, it will keep the drink cold without diluting it as ice cubes do.
Reply from eggerz
yes
Reply from Sammi
Yes, you put them in the freezer for a few hours just like you would ice cubes and then stick them in your drink! They're awesom.
Reply from Rick
Sure, does a good job for "On-the-rocks" drinks. Probably wouldn't last long for iced tea, etc
Reply from Dissapointed on Valentine's Day
Absolutely not.

Will they scratch your cup?
Verified reply from Peter
The stones should not scratch glass or ceramic. They are not heavy stones and also have very smooth edges for the most part.
Reply from my fathers daughter
that has not yet happened and i don't think it will. the edges of the stones are pretty smooth. i suppose, if the stone was dropped and chipped, maybe it could scratch a glass....
Reply from Sweetmomma
No. The sides of the rocks are rounded, even more so than most ice cubes. We've been using them since Christmas Day, and I don't see any scratches!
Reply from Mel
All the edges are rounded so we haven't had any issue with them scratching the glass.
Reply from razzberries92
The edges are rounded, so hopefully not, but we just got them and have only used them once so far. Regardless, I don't know that I'd put them in my finest crystal... (I don't actually own crystal... our glasses are the kind that come 12 in a box from Bed Bath & Beyond for about $20, so I wasn't too worried about it...)
Reply from Becky
They are very smooth. Haven't has any issues yet. Hope that helps.
Reply from Angela K
they have not scratched any glasses of ours.
