Piece of the Action

Take your favorite stadium out on the town while wearing these one-of-a-kind ballpark cufflinks. Made of material salvaged from the seats from famous ballparks, the sterling silver cufflinks give your baseball fan a handsome alternative to wearing his team's jersey for your Date Night. The colors will vary, but all are sure to look better with a suit than the "rally" cap. Each item comes with a certificate of authenticity. Created by designer Ward Wallau and Bill Hartel of St. Louis; Handmade in USA and Mexico.

Choose seat from:
Yankee (royal blue)
Wrigley (dark green)
Comiskey (light green)
Busch (red - plastic seats as opposed to wood)
Polo Grounds (dark green)

Color and condition of wood will vary slightly.

Officially licensed by Major League Baseball, each pair of cufflinks comes gift-boxed with a Certificate of Authenticity.

Due to the recycled and handmade nature of this item, each is unique and will vary.

California

Disappointed when the MTA filled in the "Y" cutout of their classic subway tokens, Ward Wallau was inspired to find a fun way to incorporate the unaltered tokens into cufflinks. He wanted to prove to the MTA that the original tokens were worthy of celebrating and repurposing and, after 11 years of "no," Ward became the first licensee of the New York City MTA. Since that time, this "authenticity hound," has assembled and grew his team of artisans, production staff, and authenticators in Berkeley, California, where they re-imagine nostalgic artifacts as unique gifts that tell a story. Ward loves breathing new life into things that already exist, be it letterpress blocks, a wooden seat from Wrigley Field, or a bat broken at a Major League baseball game. "This business is ever-challenging, dynamic, and satisfying," he says. "It's not a good day if you don't learn something new!"

Perfect gift!

I got these for my husband for his birthday. This was the stadium he used to go to as a boy and he loves them! Sentimental & beautiful.

Amazing gift for fans of America's truly greatest game

This was a Father's Day gift for my husband. I had my eyes on them for ages and this year, having been unable to see our son play due to covid, just seemed like a year of nostalgia. The cuff links were beautifully packaged and made the day a bit more special.

Great unique gift

He wears a suit everyday for work and is excited to wear these cufflinks. He's a diehard Mets fan and went to many games at Shea Stadium as a kid and young adult.

They were a homerun

I got these for a friend who is a huge Yankees fan. They were shone run! Beautiful design. Thank you.

The perfect gift for a long time Mets fan

A truly unique gift that has meaning for a Mets fan.

Loved them!

Husband loves the cuff links!

Awesome product

Definitely on the pricey side, but I know my fiance will love these. He's a big baseball fan and asked for tickets to a game last year as his birthday present. This year we'll be at the beach, so I'm bringing the stadium to him! One comment is there are definitely imperfections in the upcycled material, so be prepared for that. It doesn't bother me, as I think it adds to the charm, but something to be aware of!

Unique gift idea!

I got these cufflinks for my nephew who is a huge Red Sox fan and happens to love cufflinks...Just when you don't know what to buy - this pops up!

Cufflinks

This was the best gift I gave all year. My dad loved them. Now for my birthday I will get me a pair. Definitely recommend to others to buy.

Great gift!

Such a great gift! The recipient is a huge baseball fan so this was a perfect gift for him.

I noticed a few notes that say the seats were made of plastic like the ones from Shea stadium. Since you make them from wood - where does the wood come from for these cufflinks - specifically the ones from Shea Stadium. Thanks!

Verified reply from Colleen

The cufflinks made from stadium seats with the note plastic next to them are actually plastic as opposed to wood.

Are the back of the cufflinks stamped with the team name and Sterling Silver?

Verified reply from Michael T

The back of the cuff links are sterling silver, but not stamped with the team name.

Is there some authenticity certificate enclosed with these cufflinks. How do we know for sure or are guaranteed they are from the stadium seats as stated.

Verified reply from Martin

The cufflinks are officially licensed by Major League Baseball and come with a certificate of authenticity.

Is it possible to know whether the Yankee stadium seats were from before 1973? Because, to my knowledge Yankee stadium was built in 1923 then rebuilt around 1973 then rebuilt in 2008.

Verified reply from Ali

Thank you for your question! The Yankee Stadium seats are from the rebuilt 1973 stadium which was demolished in 2008 after the new stadium was built.

I am really considering buying these cufflinks for my boyfriend, however the warning note is scaring me. I was wondering what materials are used in making these cufflinks that may cause cancer? Is it something that has to do with the old seats or the way the cufflinks are put together?

Verified reply from Cassie, Community Moderator

Thanks for reaching out, Emily! We didn't mean for the warning to scare you, and we're sorry it gave you the wrong impression. Here at UncommonGoods we work hard to make sure all of our products are safe, nontoxic, and cadmium and lead-free. Of course, the biggest reason we do this is to make sure our customers and the environment are safe! Every now-and-then we come across a truly uncommon product, like these Authentic Stadium Seat Cufflinks, that is made out of reclaimed vintage material. Since the seats are very old, they contain elements that aren't commonly used today and might have traces of materials that could be harmful if ingested or if someone was exposed to them in large quantities over long periods of time. (For example, traces of lead in the paint.) According to California law, any product or building that contains materials that could potentially cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm must be labeled accordingly. (You can learn more about this law here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/California_Proposition_65_(1986))Since we sell these cufflinks to folks in California, we include the warning on our website. We do believe the cufflinks are generally safe, or we wouldn't sell them. But, just to be safe, we'd advise against eating them.

regarding the Wrigley field cufflinks: what year? how did they get the material for the seats? why are the cufflinks made in the usa AND mexico?

Verified reply from Marisa, Assistant community moderator

Excellent questions, and we apologize that it took us so long to get you the answers. Information may want to be free, but it's not always in the mood to be speedy! Wrigley Field has transitioned completely to plastic, and our Stadium Seat jewelry and accessories are made from discarded wooden seats which could be from any year between 1914 and 1988. They are licensed by MLB. Some prep work is done on the seats in the U.S., and the sterling silver clasps on the back of the cufflinks are made here, but the bulk of the work is done in Mexico.

Are the Cuff Links from Tiger Stadium, The Detroit Tigers??? I am interested in buying these for a huge Michigan fan but have been unable to find the name of their stadium.

Verified reply from Cassie, Community Moderator

Yes, the cufflinks are from the Detroit Tigers' stadium. They would make a great gift for a Michigan fan!

This might be a stupid question, but are they sold individually? As in, do i need to buy a quantity of 2 in order to get a pair? Or does a quantity of 1 mean I'll get a set of 2?

Verified reply from Cassie, Community Moderator

No worries, that's a great question! Some of our cufflinks are sold individually (so you can mix and match), but the Authentic Stadium Seat Cufflinks are sold as a set. The price is for two cufflinks. When a cufflink is sold individually, we will make a note in the product story.
