A very nice unique gift for a difficult sending situation
I needed a gift to send on the anniversary of the death of my friend's child. I sent this Wishing Ball with a note encouraging my friend and their family to fill the ball with thoughts and memories about their son/brother who passed away thinking it would be a good way to commemorate him but also give them an outlet for grief and other emotions. They said they really liked it.

No way to retrieve wishes
It's a cool idea, but I expected there to be a large enough hole so that we can later retrieve the wishes if we want to reread them. I got this for my 10 year old daughter, and there is not a way to access the wishes unless we break the ball. It's still an interesting gift, but it would be a whole lot better if the wishes could be accessed again. It's interesting to see how wishes grow and change over time, but once you put a wish into this, it's no longer accessible.

What color are the different months? I am actually looking for one that could be used at Christmas time, in a red or green color.
Verified reply from Deniqua
The Wishing Ball only comes in one color however, the Birth Month Wishing Balls (item 26446) comes in 12 different colors according to the birthstone of the month.

Hi! Does I come with a base for display? Does it come in a box? I want it for a birthday present, so I am worry about the presentation of the package.
Verified reply from Allison
This item does not come with a base per se. The hand blown glass is formed in such a way that it leaves a thick glass base. In addition, you can request your wishing ball to be gift boxed. It's blue box with a green ribbon. Here's a photo: https://support.uncommongoods.com/hc/en-us/articles/225245447-What-does-the-gift-box-look-like-

Does it come with a base or can a base be purchased separately? Can the ball, or if it has a base, be personalized?
Verified reply from Allison
They do have a base. They are glass and part of the Wishing Ball. This item cannot personalized.

Is the Wishing Ball the same as the Birthstone Wishing Ball except for the colors? Are they the same thickness?
Verified reply from Alice
Both Wishing Balls are the same, yes. They are both handblown by artist Jill Henrietta Davis, and due to their handmade nature there may be some variations. However they are both 4" H x 3.5" diam. and the same thickness.

If 52 weeks of papers in the birthstone wishing ball are finished and the papers are not allowed to come out, then are the past wishing papers left in the ball forever? And do we have to place another order again after that?
Verified reply from Sue
The wishes are meant to be kept in the ball forever. Think of it like a time capsule! You can order another Wishing Ball if you'd if you want to continue the tradition. We also have Birthstone Balls if you want personalize it for individuals.

Will the wishball ship to the receiver with the story shared on the website? I think the message is lost if it does not.
Verified reply from Jeffrey
Thanks for the question, the Wishing Ball does come with an artist card describing the wonderful items story.

Do you write your own or do the pieces of paper come with written wishes on it already to be placed in the ball??
Verified reply from Marisa
Thanks for your question. Only you know what you wish for, so the pieces of paper are blank, waiting for your hopes to be inscribed upon them.
- DM
Is the opening in the top or in the base?
Verified reply from Ali
Thank you for your question! The opening is in the base of the Wishing Ball.
- kim
How large is the opening? Is it round or oblong?
Verified reply from Marisa
Thanks for your question. The opening where the wishes go is round and about a quarter inch in diameter. (And is magic!)
