After working as a designer and builder of theatrical sets, Jeff Davis enrolled at the Rhode Island School of Design to earn a master’s degree in industrial design. Tapping into a cultural shift toward sustainability, the Massachusetts native decided to upcycle an old vinyl LP into a bowl—and got rave reviews. Now Jeff puts his ingenuity to work designing housewares and gifts made from out-of-commission vintage records, all brought to life by a small team of fabricators in his Philadelphia workshop.

I have mine next to a display of vinyl record covers. My nephew's is going in his kitchen. My friend will get hers tonight for her birthday. We range from 50-70 and it is perfect for any age if you love classic rock! Numbers are large and easy to read.

Awesome clock!
This clock is super cute and works well. I love that it is made from a recycled record. As other reviewers have noted, you don't get to pick a specific record but rather a genre (which make a lot of sense since the artist is recycling records). We actually loved not knowing which record we were going to get. It was fun to open up the package to a surprise record and then look up the album. Great clock!

Can I send my own record to the artist and have the clock made on that? I would imagine this is possible as so many people have asked if they can pick it customize the clock, however I can't find where to do this. Thank you

That's a cool idea! Unfortunately, you can't send your own record as this is not a customizable item. There are only four options for customers to choose from: rock, soul, jazz, 80s. Other than that, customers can't choose which album or color of label to receive since they are upcycled records and each will be unique and vary.

I know that the listing states that there is no choice for the album that is received (other than genre). I know that I would want a Rock album, but that is a very broad category and it is a gift. Would you be able to give a few examples of album types that are likely to be used? I saw that there is a listing for a custom record clock, but it is currently sold out and I would need the item by mid-October so that is not an option for me at this time. Thank you.

Due to the recycled nature of the Record Clock, there is no advance notice of the artist, album or color of label available. That said, it could be a Billy Joel album or perhaps a band from the 60's like The Lovin Spoonful, or any of the hundreds and hundreds of rock artists and bands that have made an album over the decades. Our return policy is forever, so if you are not thrilled you can return it for an exchange or refund anytime.

I'm really interested in the record clock but nervous about which category to choose. If I'm hoping to get something like Styx, Journey, Foreigner, Poison, etc.. would it be a better bet to go with the Rock or 80's category??

Great question! Because the '80s category also includes a lot of pop music, you'll want to go with the Rock category. (Unless you don't mind the possibility of ending up with a record by Prince or Madonna!)
