My sister absolutely loves it
Got this for my sister's (28) birthday since she is talented with all sorts of instruments and she has really enjoyed it. She keeps it at her desk at work and can just mess with it between meetings etc so I'm super happy to have found it. #sweepstakes

My kids are obsessed.
The kalimba comes with a little blue book filled with songs. My 7-year-old has been able to learn them all on his own. It's so neat to see!!!

Musicians will love it!
My son is a long-time musician who is constantly looking for unique sounds to use in his music production. He was blown away by this gift. And he was not the only one who loved it. We all gave it a try. And pick it up periodically if we sit it sitting on the table. It's not just for the serious musicians. But anyway who likes music. It even comes with a users manual to teach you how to use the instrument. The craftmanship is beautiful. I love that it is made in the USA and supports a family business. This is a very unique and wonderful gift.

What type of amplifier should I get for the electric thumb piano? I plan to buy two for my grandsons birthdays. Grandma does know much
Verified reply from Valerie
You would need a standard ¼" guitar cable/cord and any musical instrument / guitar amplifier. The amp is not required for the item. The acoustic and electric versions function the same way - electric will simply be louder if connected to an amplifier.

Will this become out of tune with time, and is it possible to tune it ourselves?
Verified reply from Valerie
Yes, this will need to be tuned eventually, and yes, you can tune it yourself!

Would any musicians out there recommend the Cedar Thumb Pianos (electric version) for an adult musician who creates and produces music elcetronically? He has software with an incredibly wide variety of sound options but also incorporates real instumrents he plays like electric bass, keyboard, udu and djembe drums.I'm just trying to figure out if it's superfluous for him or might add a nice layer. Any thoughts greatly appreciated.
Verified reply from Marisa
Absolutely, as long as he doesn't already have a thumb piano. They make a unique sound and the diatonic scale they're tuned to adds to their effect.

I don't know whether to get acoustic or electric. I just want to use it for pleasure.
Verified reply from Marisa
Thanks for your question. Well, here's one way of looking at it: You can play the acoustic one acoustically only. You can play the electric one acoustically AND electrically. So there's that. But really, it's your own personal preference. We love them both! Thanks for shopping with UncommonGoods.
