This handmade ceramic tool lets you get the roast just right. Potter Kerry Brooks was heading towards a PhD in American Cultures from the University of Michigan before she decided to move to Ann Arbor and train in ceramics instead, from 1988 to 1992. The next year, she moved to Minneapolis, and co-founded a four-person pottery collective the year after that. The other three potters eventually moved on, so she's run the business herself for the last 15 years. As an employer (currently of 45 people) and gallery host, she has influenced the next generation of Minnesota clay artists, and many of her employees are artists in their own right. Pottery remains Kerry's passion, but she loves to travel and sing when she's not running her business, doing philanthropic work, or raising her daughter.

Gorgeous and inspires me to actually do

Sadly it broke on the first use

Sadly, this broke on the first use. I contacted support and uncommon goods ignored my case. I am really surprised by this and it is unfortunate as it is a beautiful peice, and we were excited to add delicious roasted garlic with this beautiful dish to our culinary adventures. What a let down :(

you have mastered the craft! Your art is stunning! Hmm, the lid to the 'garlic roaster', could one special order a lid (in the size of a subtly oversized wine vessel with the curl handle as a hand handle)?

What are the usage instructions for this item? Are you supposed to soak the roaster in water before using?

You don't have to soak the roaster in water before using. Place the garlic, cut side up, on the roasting plate. After adding your desired ingredients, put the lid on the plate and place it in a cold oven on the center rack at 350 degrees fahrenheit. Cook the garlic until it's soft, about 45 to 60 minutes depending on your oven and the number of bulbs on the plate. Remove the roaster with a potholder and place it on a heat-proof surface or another potholder to cool. Keep the lid on for two to three minutes. After removing the lid, allow the garlic to cool for three to five more minutes before you take it out.
