What Makes It Uncommon

As the old adage goes, "Beauty is only skin deep." We couldn't agree more. In fact, a Japanese art form called "kintsugi" involves mending something broken with gold to turn its flaws into celebrated elements of the object. Embracing the concept, Beth Lawrence hand-forms and hammers imperfections into every one of her necklaces as if to proudly announce that what doesn't break us makes us stronger, and our scars (both visible and unseen) truly make us who we are.

Nashville artist Beth Lawrence can't remember a time she hasn't made jewelry—she even sold her work to neighbors and boutiques while still in elementary school. After earning her degree in studio art, she worked at galleries throughout Atlanta and Nashville before rekindling her passion for creating jewelry. Drawing inspiration from geometry, she makes her pieces with "love and a hammer," using sterling silver and gold-filled wire to form accessories that are simple and delicate.

Do not let jewelry come into contact with lotion, perfume, hair products, household cleaning products, etc. Slow tarnish by placing jewelry in an airtight box or bag with an anti-tarnish strip. Gently clean jewelry after wearing with a non-abrasive cloth. Use a metal-appropriate polishing cloth, jewelry cleaner, or soap & water to bring back the original shine.
