This made for a perfect gift
I bought this for a friend who is a retired luthier (guitar maker) and whose new hobby is wine making. He loves the gift! It was a "worlds colliding" moment where I could honor both his long successful career as a luthier and his new love of wine making! It made the PERFECT GIFT!

A little tough to hang - but a beautiful piece!
My father absolutely loved this gift, it was beautiful and sturdy and came in perfect condition. A Note for others, this piece does not come with anything to hang it, just a few holes do you to hang as you wish. I recommend having some wall anchors and screws handy to secure this gift into your wall!

Purchased twicw now!
This is the second time I have purchased this gorgeous piece. The first purchase was for my husband several years ago. He is a musician and entertainer. I actually bought the double version for him. He loved it. It is so beautiful.... and of course useful! This one I purchased for a friend of mine who was recently diagnosed with cancer. I didn't want to send him flowers, which actually would have cost the same or more. I wanted to send him something that would maybe help him take his mind off of his worries. I knew he played guitar, but the guitar was always in a case, never on display. Well, he loved it. Now with his instrument so accessible he plans to play more often. He was really touched by the gift and the opportunity to dust off the stings! You cannot go wrong with this!!!

Hi, I am considering buying a single guitar rack. Are the screw holes designed to line up with 16" studs? What is the distance between the screw holes? Thanks,
Verified reply from Allison
Your are correct! The distance between the two are 16 inches.

What is the distance between the screw holes on the dual holder unit. Will the screw holes line up on studs with 16 inch center spacing?

The screw holes are 35" apart end-to end

I have a 2 place guitar rack purchased over a year ago that is much darker than the 3 single racks I purchased recently. Is there a 'dark' finish rack and a 'natural' finish? Or Only 'Natural'? They have worked very well.
Verified reply from Allison
We're sorry! Due to the recycled and handmade nature of this item, each is unique and will vary - which can include the shade and finish of the wood.

Will this device hold an electric bass guitar? My son, who would be the giftee at Christmas, is out of state, and we do not have the dimensions.
Verified reply from Beau
While this Guitar Rack can adjust to hold almost any necked instrument, be mindful of the weight of the guitar. If his guitar is a bit on the heavier side it would be advised to only screw into studs to provide the best support.

How does the rack attach to the wall? Is it secure enough to hold both the guitar and the rack itself?
Verified reply from Leslie
Hi there! It includes screws for hanging and oak plugs to cover the screws. It was designed to hang from the wall and hold a guitar, so as long as it's secured properly it should be fine.

Would this hold a banjo?
Verified reply from Leighton
While this Guitar Rack can adjust to hold almost any necked instrument, be mindful of the banjo's weight! A resonator banjo might be too heavy to hang with the big boys, but an open-back banjo should have no problem!

How much weight can it hold? Will the included drywall screws hold the weight or should it be mounted to a wall stud?
Verified reply from Melody
The single rack can hold 40 lbs and the double can hold 80 lbs. It is recommended for the rack to be mounted appropriately into wall studs, or you can use anchors suitable for your wall situation.

What is the width, distance between, the two pieces the actual neck hangs on? This information will allow people to determine what types of stringed instruments hang. Also is there a weight limit?
Verified reply from Melody
The between the arms is 2 and 3/8,” and it can easily hold 40 lbs!

Hi, Could you use the wine barrel guitar rack to hang violins?
Verified reply from Jeffrey
It would not hold the violin which has a neck size about half the width of a guitar.
