Between a Rock and a Calm Place

Picture it: you're sitting by a stream, listening to the low gurgle of water as it rushes over rocks. Soothing, right? When we created these floor pillows with designer Gulnara Kydyrmyshova, that's exactly the vibe we went for. The nature-inspired designs come in three sizes. Small and medium can be used as yoga props (think of them like bigger blocks for sitting or lying). The larger "rock" makes a plushy cushion on the floor-for meditation, or sipping tea at your coffee table. A unique gift for yogi friends, the pillows make any space a little more serene. Handmade by artisans with locally-sourced sheep's wool in Kyrgyzstan.

When Kyrgyzstan became an independent country in 1991, most of the nation's talented artists fled to larger and more creative cities. But maker Gulnara Kydyrmyshova stayed behind and established a small retail store with the vision to revive Kyrgyz craftsmanship and help relieve her nation of poverty through the trade of handmade felted works. She started by conducting free sewing classes to unemployed women in her community. For over a decade, she has supported local artisans by selling felted handicrafts in her store.

Great concept but a little off

I was looking for interesting throw pillows for a few living room chairs. I first ordered the smallest ones, which are a beautiful light color in person and look like quartz rocks. However they were smaller than the measurements indicated and I only kept them because I couldn't return them after my dog thought one was a chew toy. If the scale suits what you need, then I do recent the small size. Next I ordered the medium size, which is indeed much larger and unfortunately doesn't look as realistic. They're being returned.

Rock & Roll

Not quite as smooth looking as the images, and the "veins" don't perfectly line up between the sides, but this is a BEAUTIFUL pillow that absolutely looks like a big honkin' rock from a distance. Perfectly matches existing decor and aesthetic, and was very well received!

Very Unique Conversation Piece

I love this set. The pictures make them look a little more rock-like (weirdest thing I've ever typed about pillows) than they do in-person, but it's still clear what they are. I enjoy hearing guests comment on them, and even though the smallest pillow isn't really functional, my cats love playing with it, so bonus.

My son loves these stone pillows

I knew the challenge: Find something useful and also aesthetically pleasing. And make it special. I had seen some version of stone pillows at a friend's house, but they were just regular pillows with an image of a stone. I googled "Stone Pillows" and THESE came up. Though expensive for me, they made a really nice present. Something the graphic artist would appreciate but that they King of Cozy would use. It was worth the splurge.

Colors are off

Got all three, medium stone was a navy color with just four white lines running through. Does not look like a rock at all. Very disappointed.

Uniquely beautiful

These pillows are a wonderful addition to my yoga space. They look like stones and yet they are soft and peaceful. I have received many compliments and I love supporting women's endeavors. I loved them so much, I sent an additional set as a thank you gift.

Are the pillows in the picture in order? Top is small, middle is medium, bottom is large? The length on the middle and bottom seem to be pretty much the same, and height (which would help determine which is which) isn't a measurement provided in the descriptions.
