Heat these handmade pillows in the microwave or chill them in the fridge to relieve tension and soothe aches and pains the natural way. Their secret ingredient? Cherry pits from Michigan orchards. Maker Claudia Phillips, a former massage therapist, found that this traditional Swiss remedy gave her clients extra relief from muscle pain and stiffness in their lower back, neck, and shoulders, and also helped with arthritis, muscle cramps, and sore joints.

Maryland-based massage therapist Claudia Phillips has always believed in natural remedies and holistic methods of treating tension, aches, and pains. Along with the therapeutic power of her hands, she started using all-natural heat and cold wraps filled with recycled cherry pits during her massage sessions. Her clients started showing tremendous interest in purchasing them and then fate intervened: Claudia suffered a bad car accident at the hands of a drunk driver. She recovered, but was unable to continue massage therapy practice. So she forged ahead with her popular pillows, launching a new business to produce these soothing home remedies for her clients.

Measurements

Box: 6" L x 4.5" W x 3" H; Item: 19" L x 4" W x 1" H; 19 oz.

Care

To heat, microwave pillow on high for 90 seconds and let it stand for 15 seconds. Remove and gently drape over the ache to relax and reduce tension. Repeat and use as often as you like.

To cool, place pillow in a reusable bag and in the freezer until cooled. Remove and place on the body to provide cool relief or to reduce bruising or swelling.

To clean, hand wash or machine wash and dry. Place pillow in laundry bag prior to machine wash.

Notes

A microwave with a turning glass plate is required to heat the pillow. Please be sure that it is also, turning correctly, ensuring the pillow does not fall off while heating.

Great heat pillow

This cherry pit pillow is very good at retaining the heat. It's a nice alternative to rice and/or flaxseed because the pits are larger for massaging out stiff back and sore muscles. I'm not fond of the slightly sour scent when it's heated. Perhaps some (or more?) dried lavendar inside would help.

Nice hot or cold

My husband likes this therapeutic cherry pit pillow. He has used it heating it in the microwave and putting it in the freezer. It's light. Its length makes it vversatileand it has a pleasant light sent.

Better than I expected

I've tried many heat packs and most lose heat too fast for me. I was dubious of the cherry pits but not only is it light weight it retains heat longer and better than the traditional rice or wheat filled ones. I really like it!

AHHHH Such a Spa Gift

I absolutely love this pillow - I use it on my neck and back and it also works amazingly on stomach cramps. The little cherry pits have a soothing sound and feel calming to feel thru the pretty patterns soft cloth. It's amazing how long the heat lasts!!

Approximately how long does the pillow stay cool or warm?

That's a great question regarding our Cherry Pit Therapeutic Heat Pillow. It depends on the conditions and how it's used. If you keep it around the neck in usual conditions about 30 min. Under the blanket 30 min to 60 min and air conditioned environments are usually around 15 - 20 min. You can repeat the heating process and use as often as you like.
