Very disappointed, all the plants have died.
For something as expensive as this, I would have thought there would be better quality. As of today, all my succulents have died. I followed the directions exactly as the card stated. I have not over watered or neglected the cuttings, but none have rooted (over 8 weeks), and, as of today, they're all dead.

Plants didn't survive
This was a gift from my niece and nephew. I was very excited about it. The succulents were all but dead. The instructions didn't help much as they were unclear and vague

Not worth It
Very expensive box of soil with few half dead plants. no clear instruction on how to care for it before giving it as gift and really nothing to show for it as a quite expensive gift. I am a huge fan of all items on Uncommon Goods website but this one was just not it for me.

Haven't assembled plants. So I can't judge.

Would not buy again
Was happy to receive this as an anniversary gift. We followed the instructions exactly. Now it has been 8 weeks and I am still waiting for many of the succulents to root. Some are drying up I seriously doubt I will be able to hang this thing without half the succulents falling out. Also just realized there is no hanging hook on the back of this so it is going to be extremely difficult to put on at this point. When you sell an expensive item that is meant to be hanged you could include a hook. I definitely wouldn't buy this item again.

We expect that this will take 8-12 weeks to be rooted and secure, but depending on the growing conditions it can take longer. The frame can sit directly on a nail, the lip of the frame is designed to hold this in place. We’ve reached out directly to see how we can make this a better experience.

Has flaws & won't work well as a wall hanging
Received this as a gift after seeing a newly planted one in person. I thought what a great idea. There are definitely some flaws to the design. The dirt is easier to get inside the grate if you pick out the sticks first. After adding the dirt and placing the over abundance of plants provided (I had many left over) I realized the frame does not have a hanger on the back. For the cost of this product a hanger should be included. I know, I got it as a gift but that is not the point here. No one wants to try to put a hanger on after they have just arranged it or the roots have grown in. When watering it make sure to put it on a tray with sides because the water leaks everywhere. You have to let it dry out for a day or two or three. There's no way this can hang on a wall the way it is currently made. It would either fall apart and/or ruin your wall. Cute plants but not a well engineered frame system. I intend on keeping it on a table or countertop even after it dries out for a few days with some type of waterproof sheet underneath.

Thank you for your review. Working the dirt against the screen is one way to sift out the larger pieces, they can then be pushed through or plucked off the top. The frame is designed with a lip to hold this in place with a nail. This should be given time to dry after watering. You are correct, we don’t recommend that this is hung on drywall, but it can be placed on a shelf or hung on other surfaces indoors or outside. Cute idea, bad execution
I bought one of these for myself and my mom as a Mother's Day gift. I never intended to hang it on the wall, but just wanted to have a nice succulent arrangement and a simple project to work on. There's no way this would ever work to hang up. When assembling it, the dirt that's provided had a ton of larger sticks/mulch pieces in it so it takes a long time to get it through the grate of the frame because the sticks keep getting stuck. They provide you with a ton of succulents which is great, but there's not enough room for all of them to place as there as-is size and definitely not enough room to allow them to grow. Once they're all planted and eventually start to grow roots, you're supposed to water them…but the frame leaks everywhere. I ended up disassembling the whole thing, and replanting the succulents in normal planter pots with Miracle Grow cactus dirt which seemed so much healthier than the provided dirt. I also cut away the grate and am using the frame as a a planter after sealing it to make it less leaky.

We appreciate your feedback! We suggest working the dirt across the screen to more easily get the smaller parts in and then either working the bigger pieces in or pulling them aside. How quickly after the kit arrives will I need to plant the succulents?

Instead of watering can you just give it a healthy spritz once or so a week?

It's recommended that you remove your wall planter from the wall, place it flat on the ground, and use watering can. Thoroughly water the succulents and allow the planter to stay in a horizontal position while they soak up the water. Don’t return the planter to the wall until the soil has dried slightly and won’t easily fall out of the planter when it’s returned to a vertical position.

Can this be hung on the wall in a low-light room?

The best exposure is filtered sun or partial shade. An eastern exposure is usually sun that has not yet gotten too intense. An overhang, lattice or patio cover, a nearby tree, or some other method of filtering the sun will make it easier to maintain the Living Picture. Too little sun will result in plants stretching for the light and losing their color. Too much sun will make the plants appear to be stressed. Finding the right balance, will allow for the best results.

Is this for use indoor or outdoor? I'd planned to use on my covered patio but it's over 100+ degrees. I assume that's all right for succulents?

Intended for indoor use. This planter has no up or down other than what you might think is up. In other words, you may hang it in whatever direction you want. Some use a picture frame bracket and some hang it on a nail using the edge of the frame. If you are concerned for the wall surface and moisture, then you need to take appropriate measures to protect your wall. Moisture will collect. The best exposure is filtered sun or partial shade. How do you water the plants when they're on the wall? What about drainage?

The frame does not have any drainage, so water enough to get the soil moist to the bottom, but not soggy. It can be temporarily removed from the wall to water.

To care for your garden once fully rooted, lay the display on a flat surface and thoroughly moisten the soil. Keep the display down for an hour or so and make sure that the frame is dry before hanging it up again. Water only when it's bone dry.
