Fun! Gluten-free!
This is a nice quality DIY kit. There is enough ingredients to make the recipe three times and there are three different flavor options. Best of all the ingredients are gluten-free.

Fun to do at least once
Me and my son love to eat mochi. This kit was a no brainer purchase as we love cooking and baking as well. It's exactly what you think it will be. Making and rolling out the dough wasn't a big pain but getting everything assembled was. Customizing the mochi to our preferences was a pro, and I think outweighed any other cons. It came out in one piece and we enjoyed it. But again, not something I'll be jumping to do often.

Perfect gift for our granddaughter
What child doesn't love a cold treat and making snacks for themselves? This is a Christmas gift for our 7 year old granddaughter who LOVES mochi. I am certain this will be a hit to be made over her holiday break from school.

Super fun! Prepare for a mess!
My son and I had so much fun making mochi! Prepare for a potato starch mess though its like baking! We also struggled with rolling out the dough but we are not great bakers. Its a lot of steps with wait time in between as well. In the end the mochi was delicious and we did have fun!

Such a great holiday gift!
This was so much fun! I gifted this to my husband for Christmas and he was so excited. It was so much easier to make than anticipated, required almost nothing additional to the recipe, and tasted SO SO GOOD!! Would absolutely order again! Mochi is now a staple in our house; we're experimenting with adding jams to the dough!

Great value for a fun activity!
This was a wonderful and unique gift! We plan to continue making these (buy ingredients when the ones from the kit run out). It's not super easy, but my kids are excited to keep practicing! The silicone mold for the ice cream can obviously be reused again and again, the kit includes enough to make at least 4 batches, the directions are detailed and good. The only thing I would change is, for the price (it's not cheap) the circle cutter should be nicer, stainless steel instead of cheap flimsy aluminum. Oh, and for the price I would LOVE to see organic ingredients! :)

How long does it take to make this?

For the DIY Mochi Kit, it takes about an hour to an hour and a half to make the mochi (although if you have access to microwaves, this will cut down the cook time by about 10 minutes), and an additional hour and a half for the mochi to firm up before they are ready for consumption. However, the ice cream will need to be put into the mochi molds and set beforehand. This will require at least two hours of prep time before the mochi can be made, although you could also set them up the day before and have them in the freezer overnight.

The expiration date is located on the bottom of each kit but tends to range from 6-12 months. Once you've made your mochi, the shelf life in the freezer is very dependent on ice cream that is used. A safe estimate would be 1-2 months!

The green tea is included as an ingredient for color and flavoring, however you can use the included cocoa powder instead or make your own flavors with jams.
