Fun, interesting, and delicious!
My retired science teacher husband loves rootbeer, so this was automatically a perfect match. He made his first batch and is hooked! He no longer has to search for caffeine free rootbeer as he can make his own now. It seemed easy to make with little mess. (He made it, I didn't.) He was very impressed with the taste. He has now purchased more yeast and flavor to keep making it.

Mom loves root beer!
So much fun! Mom is such a root beer fan - and a real aficionado to the point where we'd already bought her every brand under the sun to try. The only thing we hadn't given her was a DIY kit so this was just perfect and she loved it! #sweepstakes

I ordered this for my grandson, but when I looked up "sassafras extract," I read that is has been banned for years because it is carcinogenic.

A review said the containers used should be plastic because there's an instruction to squeeze to determine something. Is that the case or could this be made in an air tight glass pitcher? Also, could this recipe be quartered easily to make half a gallon at a time?
Verified reply from Cassandre
You surely can quarter the recipe and you can make the Root Beer in anything that can be sealed or capped.

Can you just clean the bottles well and not sanitize/bleach them?
Verified reply from Leslie
Hello! That should be fine, but If it doesn’t get clean enough there is a chance that the yeast will create an off flavor.

I am Giving this as a gift. I already wrapped it and didn't read the instructions. What other items do they need. Do you have to have your own sugar etc. and bottles. I want to include all the things they will need. Thank you
Verified reply from Amy
Everything they need is in the kit, aside from whatever bottles they'd like to put it in! Bottles just need to be able to be sealed or capped!
