Donut Shaped. But, Just Heavy Rice Cakes
No way are these donuts in the terms you think of. They are a very heavy rice flour cake, with no flavor. The flavor comes from the top glazing. The Chai was horrible. It's bitter and untasty. Far from a dessert. The strawberry and chocolate were OK, but very thin. Bought these for my husband for Christmas since he's a donut lover. What a major disappointment. Finally finished using up the mix. Will not buy these again!
Response from merchant
Thank you for your feedback. We're so sorry you and your husband were not satisfied with this kit. These mochi donuts are made from rice flower as noted in the ingredients list and sets it apart from regular donuts as they are made with yeasted dough. We have passed along your feedback to our team.

I would not buy this product again
The mixing and baking process was well documented and easy to follow. Piping into the molds was fun, and the donuts came out lightly golden. We opted to start with the chocolate glaze since that's our favorite (haven't tried the strawberry or matcha yet). The flavor was good (chocolate!) but the textue of these mochi donuts is unusual, especially if you're imagining standard fried or baked wheat flour-based donuts. If you are a fan of mochi donuts, then I'd recommend this to you. If not, you may or may not enjoy the chewy nature of these.

Best mochi donuts you'll ever find
Gifted to my sister and I ended up also making these for her. I don't really enjoy baking or cooking but this kit is legitimately so easy to make and it tastes absolutely delicious. I cannot find a place near me selling mochi donuts that use 100% rice flour for maximum chewiness, so this is the best solution so far. So dense and chewy, with the perfect sweetness! Highly recommend. Glaze recipe makes a lot of leftovers so reduce by half. This kit is relatively good value considering it comes with a reusable, sturdy piping bag and donut mold that you can reuse for other recipes. Some minor cons: - Instruction booklet just says to use 'regular sugar' for the batter but that was unclear unless you look at pure ingredients list instead of inline. They give you powdered sugar (I think) in the kit, it's not that. Just make sure you read carefully! - No instruction cooking video as advertised in the QR code in booklet - The silicone mold has no structure whatsoever and is very floppy, so it's hard to get it in and out of the oven especially with clunky oven mitts. Just be careful! Should be easy to find and buy rice flour to continue making this once the kit is empty! Long lasting gift. Give it a try!

She loved it
I had no idea what to get my 16 year old niece. I was really stressing out about it as the day was approaching. Somebody suggested uncommon goods. I found lots of options on the website, and actually had trouble choosing just one item. I choose this because recently she asked me to take her to the bakery specifically to get doughnuts. Her face totally lit up when she opened it.

A well-received gift
I purchased this as a gift, but my nephew was very excited about it. It seems to be the right level of complexity for him, but with fun frostings and toppings for him to play with.
