Custom Beach Necklace

I just bought this for our new daughter-in-law (it's gorgeous - thank you for that!!) We we're married in Maui 29.5 years, and my husband just passed a few weeks ago. So, I was thinking about getting one for myself, but I don't see any Hawaiian beaches listed in your sand bank. Is there a reason for that? Thanks for your help.

How do I know it's really sand from the specified beach? I love this concept but I'm a tad skeptical....

Hi there! You'll have to trust us! Or you can always select the option of sending in your own sand for the necklace - the choice is yours!

I have a small shell (both sides) and a small amount of sand from the beach from the area where I grew up. Can this shell and sand be incorporated in the round pendant?

The artist says: "Dried flower petals, crushed stones, and other materials can be incorporated, and we use about a teaspoon for each piece. If you have a question on how your natural element can be incorporated in our patented process, please feel free to email sandstyling@dunejewelry.com."

Can I use my own sand?

Yes! Select either Circle or Sand Bar and "Send Sand". Once you order, you will receive a pre-paid shipping label and envelope to mail your materials to the artist. An expected ship date for your item will be provided after the artist receives your mailer. This item typically ships 3 weeks after the artist receives your mailer.

Can the necklace be worn in the shower?

It won't be ruined, however it is sterling silver and will tarnish much faster if worn daily and in the shower (or exposed to the elements). You should never wear sterling silver or any jewelry 24 hours a day. You should always make a point to allow your jewelry to be the last thing you put on before you leave "after hair spray and perfume), and it should be the first thing you take off when you get home. Exposing silver to air and oxygen is what turns it black. Also store your jewelry in a baggy or box with anti-tarnish paper.

I have seen the list of possible sand options, how do I specify which sand I would like? I am getting married and want to request sand from the beach we are getting married on to give to my two step-daughters.

Thanks for your question. That sounds like an extraordinarily beautiful gift! When you put the exact item and quantity you'd like in your cart, a pop-up menu will appear into which you'll enter the name and number of the sand you want in your necklace.

I am interested in the item, but have more than one beach in mind. Is it possible to mix sand from 2-4 beaches in the same necklace?

What is the process for using our own sand? Do I need to purchase the product from your site, then once it arrives it will have instructions for me to send it back out again with the sand? Or do I place the order, receive instructions to send the sand, then receive the product once it is completed?

Thanks for asking! Make sure to select the "send in your own sand" option when you place your order and we'll send you a prepaid envelope and instructions for sending the artist your sand. Once the artist gets your sand she'll get to work creating a Custom Beach Necklace for you and you'll get the final product in 3-4 weeks.

If I'm providing my own sand, how much do I need? Thanks!

The artist recommends sending about 2 ounces of sand, but if you don't have quite enough she can still create a piece (but the pendant might not be entirely full).

Is the chain available on its own to reorder? I gave this necklace to my sister in law for Christmas in 2012, but the chain recently broke. She loved the way the original chain looked so I would like to be able to get her an identical one.
