Unscrew the top component, containing the sand, from the stopper and hand wash both separately in warm water, then dry thoroughly.

Excellent Item and Service
I purchased this as an engagement gift for my daughter and her fiance using sand that I acquired from the beach where they got engaged. The process for sending the sand went smoothly. I did have a question and contacted the company who responded promptly. The wine stopper looks beautiful and came in a lovely box for gifting. I highly recommend it!

Okay.
The sand looked wet or something once it was in the bottle stopper. Also, the stopper part comes easily unscrewed. It's more decorative than functional. My mother liked it though.

A Treasure to be Cherished

Great gift!
I bought this as a gift for my grandma who recently had to sell her lake home to downsize. She built the home and raised her children in it, so it was bittersweet for her to sell it. I grabbed some sand from her beach without her knowing and had these wine stoppers made. It was a great gift, I'm very happy with it.
