What Makes It Uncommon

Sunlight, with its comforting rays like a warm embrace, symbolizes the enduring presence of a loved one long after they have passed. Its fleeting yet constant presence mirrors the ephemeral beauty of life and the eternal connection shared with those we hold dear. Scott Staats melds cremated remains into stunning suncatchers as a colorful, shining tribute to their memory.
  • After sending a teaspoon of your loved one's ashes to Scott's studio in the provided kit, the artist heats glass in a furnace until it reaches a molten state. He then adds a thin layer of the ashes to the material before returning it to the furnace and sculpting it into a suncatcher.
  • Choose from multiple colored designs to create a tribute that best represents your lost loved one.
  • Each design boasts a mesmerizing spiraling pattern that reflects and refracts light when lit.
  • Suncatchers come with a ribbon for easy hanging.
  • Measures approximately 5.5W x .25H.
  • Handblown in New Jersey.

Sending Ashes Safely: What’s Changed and How We Help
We know—sending something as small as a teaspoon of ashes shouldn’t require a whole box. But when it comes to mailing cremains (both human and pet), USPS has strict rules, and we’re here to help you follow them without the headache. As of 2025, USPS requires that all cremated remains be shipped in a special box—not a padded mailer, not any cardboard box you might have at home. This is a nationwide policy, and we’re following it to the letter, because your loved one’s remains deserve respect, care, and proper handling.

Choose one of these options at checkout:

Option 1: I’ll get my own USPS box
  • You’ll need to order the required box directly from USPS—it’s free and easy. Get it here.
  • This is the only box that’s approved for mailing cremains. Using a different box could result in shipment delays or returns.
  • We’ll still send you a collection kit with complete, easy-to-follow instructions for returning the ashes.
Option 2: Send me a USPS shipping box (+$15)
  • We’ll handle the USPS box for you and include it with your collection kit.
  • USPS provides the box free of charge, but the $15 covers our cost to send it to you and get it back safely.

Scott Saats was born in Princeton, New Jersey. Although he worked as a helper at a glass studio in high school, he decided to focus on business in college. After a detour managing a car-rental office, Scott rediscovered his passion for glasswork. Scott says his work "brings joy by creating beauty, invoking thoughts and memories, blending colors, and capturing the imagination." In 2022, he fulfilled his dream of owning a studio, where his wife and two young daughters often visit to cheer him on.

It's beautiful and well crafted.

I love looking at it and see the swirls of the cremation remains. I'm so glad I did this.
