Inspired by French inventor Emile Reynaud’s 1877 praxinoscope, the animation viewer brings images to life through an optical illusion. Place a slide in the drum (it comes with 19 featuring different characters), turn the center knob, and watch as a moving scene’s reflected on mirrored panels. A delightful way to display a bit of movie magic (and history) in your home, it also makes a charming gift for any cinephile or animation buff. Made in Spain.

Great Product!

Beautiful piece to compliment any nook

This is quite a beautiful piece that you would rarely find in anyone's collection. The matte decorative and varnished wood finishes work very well together and the mirrors were squarely mounted (something I was worried about since I've seen ones with crooked mirrors). If you have (or are) someone who can appreciate this kind of trinket, it is absolutely as nice as the photo's make it appear.

A delightful Christmas gift

All of the animations are beautifully drawn and visually pleasing to watch. My parents also plan on trying their hand at drawing their own animations to try as well, using the size and spacing of the originals as a guide.

Absolutely perfect gift.

When this was opened my friend couldn't stop complimenting it, from its beauty, to its make, to the excellent examples of "film" strips. We spent time looking at each one and he already had his favourites picked to show the kids at school. He also knew exactly where it was going to go in his home. He LOVED it. (I also wouldn't mind one for myself now, it is really beautiful.)
