On the Scent

For a lucky few who live close to a national park, nature's fragrance is just a stone's throw away. But for those of us not so fortunate, thankfully there are Megan McLaughlin’s scented candles. Each of these hand-poured soy pieces is inspired by a national park, evoking an aromatic profile reminiscent of that park’s unique atmosphere.

      • Big Bend: charred wood, smoky embers, amber, and spice
      • Everglades: blood orange, bergamot, and neroli
      • Glacier: huckleberry, bergamot, balsam fir, and vanilla
      • Grand Canyon: cedarwood, labdanum, and charred pine
      • Grand Teton: cedarwood, black pepper, and patchouli
      • Great Smokies: red maple, laurel, and sandalwood
      • Hawai'i Volcanoes: wild fig, ginger, and citrus
      • Mount Rainier: balsam fir, pine needle, and citrus
      • New River Gorge: ginger, coriander, lavender, and cedar

Measurements

3" H x 3" dia.

Care

Trim wick to 1/4" before first lighting. For an even burn, always let the candle melt entirely across the top before extinguishing flame. Trim wick prior to lighting by removing burned portion of the wick. Burn in increments of 4 hours or less. Never leave a burning candle unattended. Keep away from drafts, pets and children. Only burn the candle on a level, fire resistant surface.

Doesn't stay lit

I loved the scent of "Olympic", reminded me of the Thymes Frasier Fir, very Christmas-y. But about halfway through the candle the wick would no longer stay lit. We ended up throwing it away. When I first got the candle it seemed like a great value for the size, but since it only worked for about half of the candle it ends up being way overpriced for its useful life.

Smells like the outdoors!

This is a great gift for anyone who's been to the state parks/loves the outdoors! The Yellowstone one smells divine! The can is super cute too, and I love the wooden wick. The scent is strong and permeates quickly as well!

Product was perfect for a friend who loved national parks!

The product smelled great even though I was a little nervous buying it online since I didn't know whether it would smell good or not. My friend loves national parks and loved the candle! Super cute labeling. Only thing I would change is that the shipping was slow.

Smells great, issues with wick

The candle is great. However, it does not stay lit. The wood wick burns unevenly and consistently goes out. This may work better under a candle warmer, which I do not have.

Lovely scent

These candles have a beautiful scent. I originally bought two candles, Rocky Mountain and Everglades. I had a problem with the wick not staying lit with the Rocky Mountain, and I submitted a review to that effect, with a low rating. Uncommon Goods responded by sending me a replacement, which has burned perfectly, without any problems. I have since tried Everglades and find the scent to be delightful. I believe the candles are rather small for the price, but the scents make them a worthwhile purchase. I will be buying more.

Wick will not stay lit

I recently purchased two candles, Everglades and Rocky Mountain National Parks. I lit Rocky Mountain and I must say the fragrance is lovely. However, the wick does not stay lit and the flame repeatedly goes out. I had thought I might buy a couple more of these candles, but the wick problem is a dealbreaker for me. Consequently, I cannot recommend the candles to others.

It was perfect!

I needed a gift for my brother who is impossible to shop for. I came across these candles and asked him if he had a favorite National Park. He said Teton. When he opened the candle, he was pleasantly surprised and genuinely appreciated it. He likes the way it smells and really likes the 'paint can' container. I would definitely buy it and recommend it :)

Smells refreshing

Candle smells just great- delivered fast- overall size was much smaller than I had expected. Kinda pricey for its size.
