At first glance, it looks like a beautiful shell you found on the beach. But when you pop your phone into this oceanic artwork, you can listen to music, podcasts, and phone calls at a volume that’s naturally boosted and improved by the shell’s shape.

  • Lucy hand-sculpts each piece in clay, fires it in her kiln, and glazes it by hand using a combination of pink ceramic glazes. Just like a real seashell, no two are exactly alike.

A lifelong artist, Lucy Schaeffer's work has focused on commercial photography, shooting images and video for well-known brands. She fell in love with pottery after her first class in 2018, and it's become a second career. Lucy crafts ceramics in the small garage studio at her home in upstate New York, where she lives with her husband and two kids. "I especially love making functional ware," she says. "Unique pieces that bring beauty and art to someone's home and can be used every day."
