What Makes It Uncommon

Wine making is a simple, natural process. Add yeast to grape juice, let it ferment in a controlled environment, and boom. Yet wine's mystique can make the vintner's art seem out of reach. Consider this kit a pool floaty for the beginner winemaker: It helps you jump in without fear. Each kit contains all the equipment and ingredients you need to make one gallon (approx. five 750ml bottles) of your chosen varietal. Whether you're after something bold and full-bodied or light and crisp, there's a bottle with your name on it.

  • Complete winemaking kit for beginners—just add enthusiasm.
  • Makes approximately one gallon (five 750ml bottles) of wine.
  • Includes all necessary equipment and ingredients for fermentation.
  • Available varietals: Cabernet Sauvignon, Moscato, Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, and Merlot.
  • Finished wine has 14% ABV.
  • Juice sourced from premium vineyards, including Napa Valley for red varietals.
  • Assembled in Orlando, Florida.

Usually ships within 24 hours.

Christmas Gift

This kit made a great gift for my nephew and his wife. It's definitely something for both of them since they can make it together and drink it together too! So much fun!

Awesome gift

The only thing not included in the kit were the bottles needed at the end of the process, even though they included 5 corks.

I would buy this again.

The kit had all that I needed and the instructions were clear.

Highly recommend

This was the perfect gift for a wine lover and an exciting thing to fill the winter months!!

Perfect for wine lovers!

This was the perfect gift for my brother and sister in law! They are getting married this year so they will have a fun activity to do to step away from wedding craziness and have a fun keepsake/homemade bottle of wine to celebrate after their wedding or for their anniversary!

We will buy again for friends and family

We purchased several DIY gifts from Uncommon Goods for our family Christmas. Each person received one specific to them. We then had a family game night and not only played games we also made our UNCOMMON GOODS DIYs together. Can't wait for our next Game Night to sample everyone's kits!

Great for Wine Lovers

It contains everything needed to make wine. Does not include all necessary equipment such as a funnel

Great gift idea for wine lovers

My Dad was so intrigued with the gift. I'm anxious to hear how it turns out!

Great for couples who love wine!

She said it was very easy to follow the directions.

Unique Gift

I got it for my friend since we both love wine and she really enjoyed it. It takes about a month to make so we have not tasted it yet. That will be the real test...

We are not able to get the racking cane inside the tube for the siphoning process. Do you have any advice? The ends are the same size.

Verified reply from Amy

Hello! The tubing is flexible so the makers recommend running the end of it under hot water for a minute to make it more pliable. Then you should be able to twist and work it in. The water also helps to lubricate this process.

I didn't see bottles included in the list. Are they included or do we need to buy our own?

Verified reply from Kiki

Wine bottles are not included.

Is everything in this kit ready to go after purchase, or are there ingredients that need to be bought separately?

Verified reply from Melody

Yes, it'll be all ready go to! The kit contains all the equipment and ingredients you need to make one gallon (approx. five 750ml bottles) of robust Cabernet Sauvignon.

Hello! I'm planning on getting this as a Christmas gift. Are the ingredients fine to sit for awhile (in the box), or is it best to order this gift closer to Christmas time?

Verified reply from SiRandal

Hi, the Cabernet Sauvignon Wine Making Kit is great idea for a Christmas gift! Fortunately, this kit does not have an expiration date which means it's okay for it to sit a while before use.

Can you get refills of the consumable supplies (e.g. additives, juice, yeast, etc) either locally or online OR is this a "one and done" kit and you end up trashing the corks, siphon, airlock, glass, etc? In other words, if I know I can get all of the ingredients to make more in the future using the glassware, siphon, etc - this kit makes a lot more sense. If I'm adding to the landfill because I can't reuse the hardware after 5 bottles, not so much. For example, the hard cider kit could be used over an over since you just need the cider and sanitation stuff.

Verified reply from Marisa

Yes, the consumable supplies are commonly available. We salute your concern about sustainability, which we share!

Can you get a refill kit?

Verified reply from Sue

Refill kits are not available for this item.

How long does it take to make the wine itself?

Verified reply from Martin

It takes about a month to make exemplary Cabernet Sauvignon, not counting any further aging you wish to perform.

What are the "additives" listed in the product description?

Verified reply from Sue

In wine-making, additives are ingredients that help clarify and preserve the wine. Here are a list of the additives and the roles they play: Potassium Metabisulphite prevents bacteria and wild yeast from affecting the wine, and helps prevent oxidation. Potassium Sorbate is a stabilizer used to ensure fermentation doesn't occur while aging in the bottle. Chitosan is a wine clarifier used to create a bright clear wine during aging.
