From January's frilly carnations to December's crimson poinsettias, celebrate a special someone's birth month with Ashley Chiang's delicately quilled flowers. The art of quilling started with Rennaissance nuns and monks, who rolled up bits of excess paper at the scriptorium and used them to make decorations for religious objects. Ashley's intricate, petite paper art is the product of the same painstaking handwork process, made contemporary through color and cleverly quilled flourishes.

Paper quilling is having a renaissance, with new artists taking the craft in many new directions. Ashley Chiang stumbled across the art form in 2012 while making a birthday gift for her sister. Falling in love with the process (and the outcome), she soon started making more gifts for friends and eventually put some work samples online. Today, working from her studio in Silver Spring, Maryland, Ashley shapes, curls, and coils every single work of art by hand from thin strips of paper.

The quality of the birth month flower is wonderful. It is such a simple concept, but so well done. In addition, the flower arrived quickly and was carefully packed. I would definitely order this again and again. It would be such a cute addition to anyone's decor.

Exceptional!

I bought the daffodil for my adult daughter's March birthday. It is truly a piece of art- she gasped at its beauty (as did I) and was thrilled. I didn't even know about birth month flowers until I saw this. I'm thinking I'll buy her birth month flowers for her children for Mother's Day. The kids immediately wanted to know what their flowers were- so cute. The 7 yo ran around saying he was special because of his flower :). Highly recommend- beautifully created and framed, delicate. Excellent value.
