The art of quilling started with Rennaissance nuns and monks, who rolled up bits of excess paper at the scriptorium and used them to make decorations for religious objects. Ashley's intricate, petite paper art is the product of the same painstaking handwork process, made contemporary through color and cleverly quilled flourishes.

Paper quilling is having a renaissance, with new artists taking the craft in many new directions. Ashley Chiang stumbled across the art form in 2012 while making a birthday gift for her sister. Falling in love with the process (and the outcome), she soon started making more gifts for friends and eventually put some work samples online. Today, working from her studio in Silver Spring, Maryland, Ashley shapes, curls, and coils every single work of art by hand from thin strips of paper.

Really cute; got for my mom for Mother's Day

These are an adorable, unique gift. I bought these for my mom for mother's day using the birth months of her three kids. She really liked them. They are a little smaller than I expected but I likely didn't look at the dimensions before ordering. You might just want to check that before you purchase. They stand up on their own which is great.

The quality of the birth month flower is wonderful. It is such a simple concept, but so well done. In addition, the flower arrived quickly and was carefully packed. I would definitely order this again and again. It would be such a cute addition to anyone's decor.
