What Makes It Uncommon

Dating back to 2600 BCE, the Royal Game of Ur is a thrilling two-player race where competitors must swiftly navigate their pieces across the board to outpace their opponents. The matchup combines simple-to-learn rules (learn it in 90 seconds) with strategic moves and dice rolls, offering habit-forming fun for all ages. Compact and travel-friendly, this screen-printed canvas edition lets you carry a slice of gaming history for head-to-head challenges anywhere.

  • Set up the board quickly and take turns rolling the special four-sided dice to move your stones.
  • Race to move all five of your stones across the board before your opponent.
  • Beware: Your opponent can land on your pieces, sending you back to the beginning.
  • Each two-player matchup lasts between 10 and 20 minutes.
  • Best for competitors ages 10+.
  • Comes with a game board screen-printed on soft fabric, 10 player stones, three tetrahedron-shaped dice, and a travel-friendly drawstring bag.
  • Made in China.

Usually ships within 24 hours.

Notes

The board is quickly set up and each player on their turn will roll dice to see how many squares they're able to move their stones. You must move all 5 of your stones throughout the board before your opponent. Be strategic though, as your opponent can land on your pieces, sending you back to the beginning, to start over again.

Fun 2 player strategy game

This game was an unexpected delight. My friend is a history buff and into strategy games (like Go and Settlers of Catan) and he was thrilled to have a new game to analyze. The rules are deceptively simple, and the dice introduce enough luck to keep the game exciting even if players are not matched in strategic thinking. The game is also simple enough to pick up quickly. Rounds take 10-20 minutes. 2 players is not ideal for a large gathering, but the rounds go by quickly and the game is entertaining enough for spectators that our 4 person group kept picking this game during a joint vacation. The game itself is well-made. The board is fabric, which means the box is small enough to fit in even our overstuffed game collection. The dice were satisfying to roll, and my friend said the game pieces reminded him of Go pieces. We're excited to introduce this to our game rotation.
