“Inspiration has come to me steadily throughout life, and I have been fortunate to be able to chase it,” says Wendy Gold. She explains that as a teenager she “spent countless hours creating insanely intricate friendship bracelets, kaleidoscopes, and ceramic musical instruments,” and in college made a headboard for her bed so big that she couldn’t get it out of her room when she moved out. Always looking for new inspiration, she stumbled across a beautiful antique globe at a flea market and immediately recognized her next canvas. By using recycled materials, vintage globes, and maps, she creates beautiful, geographic art.

Great product, excellent customer service
So, there's a story to my purchase and it starts when I was looking for a first anniversary gift in early 2024 (anniversary is April 1). My wife and I love to travel, so I was looking for a world map that we could track our travel destinations on. I found one on Uncommon Goods and it looked perfect! I ordered the map, and eagerly awaited to surprise my wife with it. However, when it arrived and she unwrapped it, I discovered I had ordered the USA map by mistake! She said it was fine, but I knew she was disappointed it was not the world map, because we travel to Europe every year. I contacted UC and asked about getting the world map, and if I could get a discount since I ordered the wrong one. They said sure, I would get half off the price. I planned to order it, but waited so long it turned out to be a second anniversary gift. Nevertheless, UC still honored the discount, and I got a deal on the world map! Now we have both maps, and are planning our next trip. So thanks for the maps and the responsive and accommodating customer service.

He loves it!
The only reason I didn't give this a five-star rating is that the frame had a couple minor imperfections and both my husband and I thought the alignment of my name in the ribbon should have been centered. Given the cost of this item, I would expect perfection, but I'm also pretty picky. Overall, the quality is great and it's a wonderful addition to our wall. We can't wait to fill in the map with pins!

A thoughtful find for those with wanderlust
I was very pleased at the quality and class this map had. It came mounted on the frame and with a set of the pushpins. I had my name and my wife's name printed on it with our wedding date on it. We are marking all of our travels together on the map. It's a gift that will continue to get better over time. I highly recommend it and you'll be impressed at how decorative and demonstrative it is. It's like getting a little storybook conversation piece to add to your home.

The Perfect Gift
Bride and groom absolutely LOVED this gift, as a very adventurous couple! Opened it right after the wedding and it went on the wall right away with pins of everywhere they've traveled together already. It will also serve as such a fun inspiration of where else in the world they'd love to go in order to put in a new pin!
