Care

Sun Exposure: Full Sun is good, although citrus is an understory tree and can do well under other larger trees with no less than 6 hours of sun a day. Water: Citrus does not like WET FEET, so plant in well-drained soil. If you are wondering when to water…that depends on where it is planted. If in a container, put your finger in the soil; if it is moist, don’t water. If in the ground, take the heel of your shoe and scrape the surface about an inch down; if it is wet, don’t water. If it is dry, water. How much? Just enough to moisten the tree. It’s better to keep adding water, than to try to take away too much of it. Size & Spacing: If planting the tree in the ground, be sure to place it where it will be protected from the Northwest winds in colder weather. Don’t plant too close (<15’) to any other tree or structure as you will want to harvest from all sides of the tree. Trees vary in size depending on cultivar.
