What Makes It Uncommon

They look like musical instruments—and they once were—but now they're something entirely more surprising. These handcrafted teleidoscopes use a clear lens at the end to transform the real world around you into an ever-changing visual mosaic. Unlike a traditional kaleidoscope, which shows preset patterns inside, a teleidoscope reflects whatever you point it at—your living room lamp, your garden, your cat—breaking it into endlessly repeating designs. Made from the repurposed body of a well-loved flute or clarinet, each piece offers a calming and creative visual escape that invites curiosity, nostalgia, and a bit of optical magic.

  • Available in two styles—silver-tone Magical Flute with vintage cat’s eye marbles or black Magical Clarinet with jewel-toned glass beads.
  • Clarinet teleidoscope uses a 3-mirror system; Flute uses a 2-mirror system for different visual effects.
  • Includes a wooden stand made from guitar fingerboard offcuts and a soft velvet pouch.
  • Crafted from upcycled student flutes and clarinets with all the patina, wear, and tiny quirks that make each piece one of a kind.
  • Handmade in Los Angeles, California.

Due to the recycled and handmade nature of this item, each is unique and will vary.

Wesla Weller

Wesla Weller is a Los Angeles-based artist who transforms discarded instruments into soulful, functional art. After a career in graphic design, she took a metalsmithing class that sparked a passion for working with reclaimed materials. Inspired by her love of music and a desire to honor the craftsmanship behind each instrument, she now creates kalimbas, jewelry, and kaleidoscopes from piano parts, cymbals, and woodwinds. Each piece is handmade in her backyard workshop and celebrates beauty, memory, and second chances. She donates a portion of sales to music education and piano reuse programs...and credits her dog Clifford as the shop supervisor.
