What Makes It Uncommon

"Science is magic that works." On December 25, 2021, that became truer than ever when the James Webb Space Telescope—which can "see" galaxies 13.6 billion light years away—was launched. Daniel Charpentier, inspired by the telescope's 24-karat-gold–coated primary mirror and its honeycomb pattern, created these beautiful, wearable minis to express his love of space, astronomy, and science in general.

  • Daniel laser-cuts the ⅞" shapes from mirror acrylic glass, hand-finishes them, paints the backs, and hangs them from 14k-gold-plated brass earring wires.
  • The lightweight earrings come in nicely giftable packaging for your stylishly geeky friends.

Daniel Charpentier might not be an astronaut, but he loves the cosmos as if he were. Born in the Netherlands, Daniel was trained in the biotech field. When he and his wife moved to the US, however, he was ready for a new adventure. Inspired by the honeycomb patterns of the James Webb Space Telescope, Daniel began crafting pieces that live at the intersection of space and design?all with the aim of helping others appreciate science.
