About the Maker

Ori Shir
Ori Shir found his way to glassmaking by an unexpected route: beekeeping. Before stepping into the studio, he had a career as an apiarist in Massachusetts, where matching the bees' summer work schedule left him with free time in the winter. Introduced to glass through his wife, he was drawn in by its color, movement, and endless possibilities. Today, he creates handblown pieces that balance function with artistry, each one shaped without molds and full of subtle character. What began in a makeshift furnace (a 55-gallon metal drum!) in a small shed has grown into a dedicated studio practice rooted in curiosity, collaboration, and appreciation for everyday beauty.
