"Without Freedom of Thought, there can be no such Thing as Wisdom; and no such Thing as publick Liberty, without Freedom of Speech," said Ben Franklin, who published The Drinker's Dictionary, listing 200+ slang phrases for being drunk ("Pidgeon Ey'd," "Jambled," "had a Thump over the Head with Sampson's Jawbone," etc.).
