Brett Cramer wasn't always the salty genius he is today. Until 2009, he was focused on entrepreneurship in the tech industry. But that year, he decided to make a special holiday gift for his friends. Combining his love of gourmet cooking and his enjoyment of woodworking, he created a wooden base from scrap lumber to hold a row of test tubes, which he filled with unique salts from around the world. The response from his friends was so positive that he realized he had hit upon something wonderful. He refined his design and grew his homemade gift idea into a business that now offers 180 different kinds of salt from 30 different countries.

Care
Care: Not dishwasher safe. If standing liquids are left in Salt Tequila Glasses, they will slowly erode over time.
Wipe clean when not in use and store in a dry place.

Salt is naturally anti-bacterial. These glasses are carved from the finest food grade Himalayan salt and each glass includes a PET plastic insert to prevent leakage. Click here for detailed directions.

Lost everything in the fire

Cool gift!
I usually bring a "hostess gift", but knowing her husband really liked tequila, I told her it was for her husband. He was super surprised and absolutely LOVED it! I had frozen the glasses ahead of time, so he could try it right away, and also brought two very nice bottles of tequila for him to try.

Mezcal must have
A perfect companion to any collection of agave distillate. Not only are the shot glasses beautiful, but they add just the right amount of salty kiss to the smoky palate for your shooter or your sipper. I purchased these as a gift and ended up getting some of my own. Quite honestly, I've grown spoiled and am a little let down now when I don't get served my mezcals in these tasty little containers.

Great for a limited time
Bought this as a gift for a family member who loves tequila shots. The glasses are very salty and they love them, however, after about three months of continuous use, the salt deteriorates. They love them so much they bought the set again, but it's worth noting that the salt does not hold up for very long.

How long do theses glasses last?julia

How long they last will depend on how often they are used, how long the liquid remains inside the glass before it's consumed, and how they are cleaned. You'll want to keep them as dry as possible for maximum longevity. More contact with liquid (inside or outside) will shorten their lifespan.

This question is for Brandon: If i am taking a shot of tequila, can I lick the whole glass? And will it taste like salt?

I'm not Brandon but I can definitely answer this for you! Yes you can taste it. Especially with the drink inside. If you leave it for long it will taste salty and also dissolve so you have to take the shot right away.

Can you wash these after use? Special instructions for that?

They will last longer if you just wipe them clean and don't wash them (which is an option, since salt is naturally antibacterial). You can rinse them gently with warm water and dry with a towel, or wipe them out with a warm damp cloth--either way will make them wear out just a bit faster. (Don't ever let them soak or put them in the dishwasher, because then they are one-use-wonders!)

I am still not clear if the insert is designed to remain inside of the shot glass to hold the tequila or to be removed prior to using?

You do leave it inside, if you want to. If you like a saltier taste, you don't have to put them in the glasses.

I'm a bit confused about the PET plastic... is it not a liner that goes in the shot glasses? My mom has a set that has a plastic liner which prevents the shots from becoming too salty, is this not the same thing?

I got a set of 4 and some fine tequila. Poured a shot and drank, and oh my!! The saltiness was overwhelming! It was like pouring table salt on my tongue. I just can't see continuing to use these. has anyone else experienced this?

Thank you for sharing your experience. Some 'pro tips' for the use of these shot glasses is to first minimize the time that the beverage of choice remains in the glass so consider it a pour and drink encounter, rather than a pour and savor. In addition you'll want to try to keep your tongue from getting too much contact as there will be salt in your beverage. I hope this helps, and that you will be able to enjoy your purchase.
