What Makes Cookie Fries Uncommon

They look like fries. They dip into something red. And that's about where the resemblance ends. Heidi Riegler bakes crisp, golden shortbread sticks from a traditional Austrian recipe, then pairs them with raspberry jam for a sweet little fake-out that's almost as fun to serve as it is to eat. Three fry cups come boxed together, ready to make snackers do a double take before digging in.

After 25 years in arts PR, she followed her passion for pastry, introducing stateside customers to the classic flavors she grew up with.
