Washington, DC–based couple Katie and Dustin Watts discovered a mutual passion for tea culture on their first date. To learn how to make truly authentic bubble tea, they spent a month in Asia tracing its origins. They toured tea fields, did tastings with tea masters, and visited the rival Taiwanese tea houses, which claim to have invented bubble tea, as well as many other boba shops in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Xiamen, Shanghai, Beijing, Kyoto, Shizuoka, and Tokyo. Their kits are based on what they learned.

Pay attention- loose leaf

It does say loose leaf in the description, but I just wish a tea "kit" came with something to contain the tea when making it. Not a kit so much as it is tea and a straw. The tea is very good.

Be Careful Opening

Let me start out by saying I love love love this kit. The flavors of tea and the boba are great!! That being said when I originally opened my box loose leaf was all over my mailer and piled into the box— as it had fallen out of the bag. Thankfully not all my Uncommon Chai was lost, but it was upsetting to see due to how delicious this tea is.

Hello! There is not something included for this. We recommend using a tea pot with a strainer for loose tea, or a tea ball to keep all the leaves in one place. If you don't have access to either of these, you can simply pour the hot water over the tea leaves and then pour the finished tea through a mesh strainer into your cup.

Can I make the bubble tea using any sort of loose leaf tea or just specific ones? Like the ones in the package? Also, what sort of flavouring agents could I use and how can I use them? Thanks.

This comes with all of the items you will need aside from optional milk! You could try using tea in the same quantity as what is provided, but this kit has everything you need. If you want to add anything additional (like sweetener) that would be up to you!

Hi! Per the artist, they source ingredients from all over the world. The tapioca is from China, the black tea is from India, and the spices in the Rooibos Chai are from additional countries. They vary at times, depending on the crop and season.
