What Makes It Uncommon

Nothing hits quite like that first sip of coffee in the morning. Make it even more flavorful when you brew it with Etai Rahmil’s stunning pour-over maker. Crafted completely of borosilicate glass, the filter doesn’t impart any aftertaste like paper, metal, or plastic versions can (and it cuts down on waste). Every piece is thoughtfully crafted to maximize your brew’s deliciousness while also looking beautiful on your counter.

  • Kit includes dripper, diffuser lid, stir stick, black dripper base, 20-oz. carafe, and black carafe coaster.
  • To brew: Using medium-coarse grounds, pour hot water through diffuser lid until grounds are saturated. Bloom for 45 seconds, then pour water through the diffuser until water level reaches the handle connection. Allow water to fully drip through the grounds.
  • Designed and prototyped in Portland, Oregon. Handmade in China.

good coffee maker but idiosyncratic

I would recommend this coffee maker, if you enjoy fiddling around with grinds and measurements. The directions say "medium grind." I find that too fine, and using that grind leaves a good deal of silt in the bottom of the carafe, and cup, such that I wanted to run the made coffee through a filter. Coarser grinds work better, and I've had good results. One problem is that coarse grounds can plug up the not very numerous holes in the glass filter, and have to be removed by hand.So it's a touchy little device in some ways, with having to adjust the grind and use more coffee, and the less convenient aspects of not having a disposable filter. I think it needs a few refinements, perhaps more filtering holes in the top carafe. However, I like the design, the idea behind it, and the relative ease of use.
