After studying children's book illustration, Alison detoured into graphic design and advertising but took a break from the ad business a few years ago to return to painting. Her playful characters attracted a following, and today, the Hudson, New York-based artist plans to convert her creative side hustle to a full-time illustration career.

One pickle and ball on other side of glass
Only one pickle is on the court? The other pickle and the ball are on the other side of the glass? In the catalog, both pickles and ball are on the court? I ordered 2 at first, noticed the design was not right, ordered 2'more, got those and the design still is not right?

Thanks so much for your message! I’d love to clarify how the design works on this glass, as it can definitely be a bit of a visual trick at first glance. The artwork is intentionally printed on both the front and back of the glass to create a fun 3D-like effect. One pickle appears on the court in the foreground, and the second pickle is placed on the opposite side of the glass. When you turn your wrist while holding the glass, the positioning of the pickles creates an optical illusion, making it look like they’re volleying the ball back and forth. It's meant to be playful and dynamic, kind of like the action follows you as you rotate the glass. Take a photo from the opposite side. That’s when the illusion really comes to life, and you can see both pickles “interacting” as intended.

I have purchased twice for gifts for my friends who love pickleball. Great quality. Heavy and they do well in the dishwasher. So cute and fun. The two glasses are packaged in a nice white box and then packaged very well for shipping. No chance of breakage. Put them in your cart!

Gifts for the Hard-to-Please
When I don't know what to get for someone who has everything, I turn to Uncommon Goodsp. My best friend retired to beach life, tennis, and pickleball. Plus she just remodeled her kitchen. What could be more perfect than glasses picturing two pickles playing pickleball? Not only are they useful, but they will appeal to her wonderful sense of humor. Incidently, I got my nephew's recent gift from Uncommon Goods also. (He really does have everything.) I gave him heirloom glasses that had belonged to my mother with a Christmas tree that trims itself when a cold liquid is added. To create the perfect touch, I ordered golf ball ice cubes from Uncommon Goods. I was stunned at their beauty. I expected opaque plastic, but these are clear and faceted. I couldn't have been more pleased with either purchase.

They are so cute and my boyfriend loved them as a gift. The one pickle is on the other side of the glass so it doesn't exactly show that in the pictures online. So it is two different pictures that if you look through the glass you see them playing together. Cute and quirky.
