Absolutely useless
First of all, when I bought mine, the app wasn't compatible with my Android phone. All right, my bad. Then I changed phones and was able to set everything up. But truth be told, this went from a good might-save-my-life idea to a useless, kinda cute bracelet. The whole point of this, as advertised by the company, was to give people peace of mind regarding their health and safety. I bought it as an alternative to bulky medical bracelets that carry whatever urgent information someone might need if they find you unconscious. And there was a bonus - whenever someone scans your LifeKey, someone on your trusted list could be alerted. But theeeen comes the catchy part: the band can only be scanned by someone with an internet connection and prior knowledge of this bracelet, because they need to know exactly what they're looking at and where to find the scannable code. Meaning, if I'm out of cell reach for any reason - out on a hike, on a badly serviced area or whatever - I'm doomed cause there's absolutely nothing this bracelet can do for me until someone moves my limp body - or just the bracelet - to a phone serviced area. I mean...seriously? I'm giving it 2 stars because, as I said, it is cute and more comfortable than bulky medical bracelets; AND in a perfect world, where everyone has a smartphone, constant internet connection and prior knowledge of what a LifeKey is, this could work.

Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback. I am sorry to hear that the Smart Wristband did not meet your expectations and that the app compatibility and scanning limitations affected your experience. We understand how important reliability is for an item meant to offer peace of mind. We hear great feedback about this item, I’m sorry that it wasn’t a great fit for you. First responders are trained to look for medical identification, and the Lifekey symbol and ICE color are designed to serve as indicators. Even so, we appreciate your point about awareness and access. We’re reaching out directly in case we can do more to help.

bought for gifts
resending because i meant to put 4 stars. I bought 2 as gifts. So far i just received them. they don't come in a gift box or anything they are just on a piece of cardboard.I dont see any instructions except what is on the back of the cardboard. so if it gets ripped taking it out of the packaging, that will make it more difficult.Maybe there are instructions hiding inside but i really dont think so. I dont know what I was expecting but i guess i thought I would be wowed or something since these are gifts. I think i had too high of expectations..which is a me problem LOL...I would have liked it if they had the blue color in stock. But at least there was black. I hope these work. the website says they are HPPA compliant but what if one is lost or stolen, can just anyone have access to the Personal and Health information? I'll see how it turns out.

Great gift for a runner!
Bought this as a gift for my track-and-field friend who runs almost everyday. I know she will make use of it, and she loved the simple design. Would buy again for a runner friend! #sweepstakes

Great Concept

Perfect Gift for Family That Love to Hike and Travel
My sister and her husband are frequent travelers. They often go to remote places and do long hiking trips. She was so excited about this gift and absolutely loved it!

Peace of mind
I use this when I'm solo hiking. It updates my friends on where I am, and I feel safer knowing they know where I am. I knocked one star off because I have small wrists, and this is a little too big for me. But that's a small thing. #sweepstakes

The perfect companion!
It's just so unobtrusive. He says he doesn't even really know he's wearing it, yet it provides such an important role to keep him connected to our family.

Perfect Runner's Gift
My niece loves to run so I thought this would be the perfect Christmas present to keep her safe. Her campus is in a city that is a little rough, so it's nice to know she's safe no matter what! I'm also glad there is an easy to use app for her so she will definitely use it !

Does this only work if you have the app installed on your personal phone?

Thank you for your question! The Outdoor Safe Smart Wristband uses the Tap app, which you can learn more about here: https://tap.lifekey.co/

Hello! I saw someone mention in their review that this will only work if one has cell service. What are the specifications of how it sends information to family members? Is cell service required, and if so, can you still see the location of the wearer despite a lack of service? Thank you!
Verified reply from Allison
Lifekey uses the same technology you use to pay with your phone (Apple Pay, Google Pay, etc.,). If your phone can make payments by tapping, you can use Lifekey. You don't need an app to scan a Lifekey device. Most phones will work right away but there are exceptions for older iPhones released before 2016.You'll unlock your smartphone and hold the Lifekey to the corresponding spot on your phone. Lifekey requires an internet connection to send/receive information. It transmits data only when in contact with a smartphone.

Hello! Do you need to keep your phone on you while the bracelet is on in order to send your location to someone ?
Verified reply from Michelle
Hi! The bracelet does rely on your phone, so you would need to keep your phone with you.

So how do medical personnel know to scan the watch? Would they not need to be familiar with the program and have the app themselves? It seems it would be awfully hard for others to access medical information.
Verified reply from Michael
Hi there! Medical personnel are trained to look for devices and there are instructions on the inside of the band. You do not need the app to scan the band.

Hi, I really like the idea of this but I'm wondering why or how is this better than just having my smart phone with me if I need my smart phone with me for it to work? Thanks
Verified reply from Larry
The idea is for this Wristband to be a simple tap and go alternative to your smartphone. Instead of having to juggle multiple apps, this wristband provides a simple alternative to what is important when staying safe outdoors.

Do you need service to update the app
Verified reply from Leslie
Hello! Per the maker: Since it relies on the smartphone, you won't be able to send/receive without a signal. However, users tend to check-in when the arrive or hit the trail -- dropping a pin for you -- before they lose service. We have plans for more functionality without service, but not currently.

is the size adjustable?

It has a stretchy band, so while it does not have a buckle, it is accommodating to a range of sizes.

Does this have built-in GPS and can others see your location?
Verified reply from Amy
It connects to the app, which uses the GPS on your phone. It uses passive NFC technology. The wearable generates power to transmit data only when in contact with a smartphone (at approx 1 cm or less). So, devices can't be tracked and data cannot be accessed from a distance without your approval.

The product sounds just perfect! How do medical emergency personnel access the data? I have a plastic roadID with everything written in it
Verified reply from Amy
Hi Lisa! It uses the Tap app, which you can learn more about here: https://tap.lifekey.co/
