Notes
Please note: New York Times Custom Anniversary Book includes only pages from the year of the recipients' anniversary onward. A more recent wedding will result in a shorter book. Additional filler pages featuring noteworthy events on other dates may be added to the end of the book. Books with a date after 2005 or before 1921 cannot be created at this time.
These pages are not standard newspaper dimensions, therefore, the type is shrunk slightly to fit a more convenient, book-sized trim. Certain years/pages are reprinted from microfilm and font size may be reduced. Missing pages may be the result of a newspaper strike or a lack of relevant information on the front page for that date.
Once your order is submitted it is entered into production and changes and cancellations cannot be accommodated- we are sorry, no exceptions. We do our best to turn orders around as quickly as possible and as a result, orders begin production immediately. - All Orders Final

Not exactly what I had anticipated.
While the quality is exceptional, I was disappointed in the fact that the New York Times spent more than enough presenting it's background. The individual headlines for each year is minuscule. This was a gift for my brother and sister-law's 50th wedding anniversary and I would have preferred the pages for each anniversary date much larger than postage size. Four to a page would have been much better.

Excellent/Unique Gift
Packaged well and arrived in mint condition. Pages were very durable and not cheaply made. The addition of more articles from various events of the last hundred years+ was a nice addition as well, beyond the 25 years of anniversary headlines. Well worth the expense.

Great anniversary gift if you're not sure what to give
Purchased this for my parent's 50th Anniversary, having NO idea what else to get them. They seemed to really like it. I think they and anyone visiting them would enjoy flipping through, seeing the headlines that we've forgotten about...and it's something that they'll look at periodically because you probably won't get through it all in one sitting. It's funny to see at some point where you can tell the paper went digital because the resolution of the printing is better. There are also some "famous" front pages, at the end of the 50 for their anniversary date...for example, JFK assassination, 9/11, etc. I hadn't expected that (it may have been in the description but I missed it) and it's kind of cool to have those extra pages to look at since the rest of the book is a somewhat random day of the year.

Perfect gift for a history buff
This book is what I was looking for in a 50th anniversary gift for my spouse. My husband enjoys reading a newspaper front to back. Finding a bound book of New York Times for the last 50 years is a unique gift for an avid reader like my husband.

Beautiful Memoir!
I ordered the New York Times Custom Anniversary Book for my grandparents. It was a 75th wedding anniversary gift. It was very difficult to think of a perfect gift to give to a couple married 75 years. When I came across Uncommon Goods and this Anniversary book, I knew it would be an original and unique gift that would keep on giving for the entire family to enjoy. The print is a little small for my grandmother with macular degeneration, but she loves the magnifying glass and says its the best quality magnifier she now owns. The family got great joy in watching my grandparents remember memories from the year they got married in 1948 and on.

FAQs
1. What is included in the New York Times Custom Anniversary Book?
The New York Times Custom Anniversary Book includes a front page from the exact date the couple was married, plus a front page for every anniversary year up to the present. Beyond those milestone pages, the book also features iconic historical front pages — such as coverage of the JFK assassination and 9/11 — making it both a personal keepsake and a broader snapshot of history. The cover is embossed with the couple's names for an extra personalized touch.
2. Is the New York Times Anniversary Book good for milestone anniversaries like 25th, 50th, or 75th?
Yes, the New York Times Anniversary Book is an excellent gift for milestone anniversaries like the 25th, 50th, or even 75th. Buyers have gifted it for all of these occasions and report that couples — even those who are notoriously hard to shop for — are genuinely moved by the experience of flipping through decades of headlines together. It's especially meaningful for longer anniversaries where the couple can literally watch history — and the newspaper itself — evolve from black-and-white print to full color.
3. How big is the New York Times Custom Anniversary Book and is the text easy to read?
The New York Times Custom Anniversary Book is larger than many buyers expect, making it a natural coffee table centerpiece that invites guests to browse. The size means the text is generally readable, though for older recipients or anyone with vision challenges, having a magnifying glass on hand can be helpful — one version of this gift even comes with a high-quality magnifier included.
4. Is the New York Times Anniversary Book good quality — are the pages durable?
The New York Times Anniversary Book is well-made and arrives in excellent condition. The pages are durable rather than flimsy, and the print quality is notably strong — you can even see the progression from older print reproduction to sharper digital-era imaging as you page through the decades. Buyers consistently note it feels worth the price and like a lasting keepsake rather than a novelty item.
5. Is the New York Times Custom Anniversary Book a good gift for couples who are hard to shop for?
The New York Times Custom Anniversary Book is widely regarded as an ideal gift for couples who seem to have everything or are difficult to shop for. Because it's personalized to their specific anniversary date and spans every year of their marriage, it offers something no generic gift can — a tangible, browsable record of the world they've shared together. Recipients typically keep it on display and return to it repeatedly, making it a lasting conversation piece rather than something that gets tucked away.

Is it possible to not have the year printed on the front? I'd like to buy it for an upcoming wedding gift and have it be the last 50 years. Can I just choose 2/8/1960 but not have the month printed on the cover?
Verified reply from Itamar
Hello, great question! At this time, omitting a printed date from the cover is not an option for the NYT Custom Anniversary Book. However, we will pass along feedback :^)

I want to clarify that if I put a date of December 1, 1997 will the book contain all of the pages from 1997 forward or just for the year beginning December 1, 1997?
Verified reply from Michelle
Hi! If you choose the date of December 1, 1997, the book would contain the front pages of the New York Times for December 1st of each year starting with 1997 up to the current year. So if you order after December 1st of 2022 that will be the last page.

How many pages are the minimum number of pages? If this is a 10-year anniversary gift, how many "extra" pages are added?
Verified reply from Kailey
The New York Times Custom Anniversary Book has a 20 page minimum, so only dates prior to the day on which you place your order in 2000 or earlier can be ordered at this time. The most current date available is the date on which you place your order. The amount of extra pages added will depend on what the date of your anniversary is.

Do you know the approximate text size of the NY Times reduced page size? I'm just trying to figure out if most seniors wearing glasses will be able to read it without the need of a magnifying glass.
Verified reply from Allison
The type size for all the books varies by the year. More recent pages of the New York Times are formatted especially long and narrow, so these have the smallest type size. The font size can be as as small as Times point size 6 or 7 in Microsoft Word for some pages.

Can I add other significant dates to a book for my 25th anniversary? I was wanting to include birth dates of our children and grandchildren, the kids' wedding date and the dates of our parents deaths.

I would like to actually purchase this for our company founder. The "Anniversary" would be the founding date. i.e. company name (in place of couple's) founding date (in place of wedding) before I purchase, is there any "romantic" element to this? I would hate to buy this as a corporate gift if it was romantic. thanks!
Verified reply from Melody
There are no explicit romantic elements. The cover of the book will have the company's name and founding date on it, and the pages in the book are just historical events beginning from the company's founding year.
