Simple, Durable, and Fun

I got this for my nephew's 3rd birthday. At first I was skeptical giving him electronics, but it's perfect: 1) No batteries to fall out when he drops it 2) Thick, heavy wood means he can drop it (and will) 3) 2 buttons, no reading means he can operate it on his own. I could hear him squealing with delight listening to his own voice--on a device that has no screen, no less!

If the entire tape is to be recycled once the battery runs out, is there a way to buy replacement tapes? Will any tape work?
